Florist Recommendations

I've never used the community boards before. I'm getting married in October and my big ticket items are taken care of. However, I haven't started looking for a florist and am looking for recommendations preferrably in Northern New Jersey (Essex County perhaps). My flower needs are not great - bouquets and boutonnieres. I'm sticking w/ red and white roses and don't want to break the bank.

Any suggestions?

I got a good price quote from AW Flowers in Kearny, and I really liked the samples I saw. If you can wait about three weeks, I will have pictures from my wedding that I will gladly share.

Avenue Flowers in Elizabeth also gets a lot of praise on this board.

We're using Metropolitan Plant & Flower Exchange in Saddle Brook and so far I'm very happy with their service and the trial center pieces and bouquets that were shown to me. Their prices are good too.

i used metroplolitan plant exchange in saddle brook too
i loved yumilla! she was awesome, and really great to work with....she'll make you trial bouquets before you even book with them....
all i had were bouquets and bouts, as well as pew bows and church flowers....no cps...and their prices were great....

Although I'd like to agree with you, Petals Premier was a HUGE letdown. We thought it would be a great experience - we met with the owner several times and shared many ideas. However, a few weeks before the wedding, he backed out on several items in the contract, he increased his prices and became hot-tempered, nasty and unprofessional. Day of the wedding, the flowers were pretty but his staff were MIA when needed to put petals on aisle and set up room, despite several calls to their cell phones. The flowers were also not what we spoke about. I would use someone else - don't aggravate yourself. Use someone who is trustworthy, honest and appreciative of your business.

I'm so bad at this posting thing, but I just read the negative post about Petals Premier and I have to TOTALLY DISAGREE. The owner Adam, was personable and professional the entire process. He had his entire staff at our event the day of our wedding and the results were OUTSTANDING. I do not have a negative thing to say about them because they totally exceeded our expectations. I would definitely recommend them to anybody who wants top quality results.

We got the best price at AW Flowers, although we went and booked with the house florist at our venue (my parents were more comfortable with that since she really knew the place), but they were second on our list! Adam was great and very easy to work with when we met with him.
