Thoughts on Simply Delicous as a catering co?

My fiance and I just went through three catering meetings with three seperate catering companies: Durham Catering, Triangle Catering, and Simply Delicious Catering. While triangle provided every service we would want - they were way overpriced and the sales rep seemed to go through the motions during our meeting rather than sell the services. Simply Delicious gave us the best, cost-effective price but we do not know of anyone who has used them before or tasted them at an event - so if anyone has, please let me know! With the economy the way it is and our catering costs will be the biggest chunk from our budget - we need your experiences to let us know if we would be making the right decision! Thanks for your help! Mari ~

If you're not totally tired of talking to caterers, I highly recommend Greg over at Catering by Design. His food is amazing and he'll make a menu that works with your budget. He's also super flexible which is nice because I know a lot of caterers don't like to change up their menus very much. I've eaten so much of his food and I could never get tired of it haha. His site: [link]http://www.catering-by-design.com/[/link]

I work with Durham Catering sometimes for work and have been really happy with the food and service. One thing they don't do (which I know places like Triangle Catering and Catering Works do), is much of the sort of event coordination aspect of events. They do really great food and they have their stuff together, but they aren't going to help you decorate or put together favors or anything. I hope this helps! I have Durham Catering booked for my wedding and was pretty happy with the prices and package I put together. Good luck!

I second Jessica! We have booked Durham Catering for our reception. The food at our tasting was fabulous, AND they let you bring your own alcohol, which was a must for us!

Here's my suggestion. Look at the service side of their business. Ask how many staff will be on location, ask how long each of them will be onsite. How long will the food be out. Is it once everyone has eaten or for a longer period of time for the people that want to come back and graze. If one caterer is $20/head and one is $25/head that may be the difference. Staff is the one area that people don't look so closely at and can make a huge difference.

Yeah = I have Durham Catering Company as my caterer and was really impressed with how they worked with our tastes, budget, and concerns throughout the whole booking process!

Andrea brings up a really good point, especially if you are doing a seated dinner. Ask what the ratio of guests to staff members will be.
