    The traditional American St. Patty's Day meal - Corned Beef & Cabbage.  I have such good memories of my mom making it every year.  Hers was always the best, and it was one of the few meals that we'd actually eat around the dining room table.

    As I got older, she taught me how to make corned beef the way she did, but it's never been the same.  Now she has dementia and she's blind, and I'll never be able to eat her corned beef again.  The best we can do is have her talk me through the cooking and then ask for pointers once she's tasted it.

    This year, I was going to have a party.  I'd make my mom's recipe, the cookies FI likes, and have Guiness and tons of other liquor.  Then I caught a cold.  Since most of my friends don't have medical coverage or sick leave, I don't want to chance them getting sick.  We've postponed the party until this weekend.  Hopefully everyone will still be able to make it or there will be lots of leftovers!
