Respect the Knot

I know I'm pretty much stating the obvious here...cause we all know how influential word of mouth is, but just have to voice how amazed I am at vendors' attitudes toward the Knot.  I actually had a reception venue manager ask me if I had seen anything about the place on message boards.  I said, "Yeah, I'm a new Knottie."  Well, the whole tune changed and he became much more polite, patient, and accomodating.  We all know we're investing too much time, emotion, and money to stand for being jerked around...and now the vendors know it too!  Mags0220, sounds like you had a gorgeous event from your vendor review posted earlier.  Congrats!  And I'm so glad your jerky florist will likely lose business because of the way he treated you and your mom.  Has anyone else had any experiences where vendors suddenly became much easier to work with upon finding out you are a Knottie?  I love it. :)

Absolutely!!  Once a vendor knows you are on the knot they are a bit nicer and more accommodating.

I havent noticed a change of attitude with vendors, but they certainly do realize the knot can potentially make or break them. At least a few of my vendors stated that they get alot of their business through recommendations posted here.

JustJen it still works no worries.  I don't think they'll change completely but I found one or two who were nicer and changed things after the fact.

I don't think i did it intentially, but they all knew i was on here. Maybe they stalked me  ;-)

I got a lot of my recommendations through here (and also recommended a lot of vendors to other brides).  It was usually an awkward conversation: "So how did you hear about me?"  "Umm... Jane." "Oh wow. Jane is one of my favorites. Do you know her dad? He's a hoot!""Uh, no not really.""How do you know her?""Online. From the knot.""Oh the knot. Wow.  That's cool!"

Tif - lol! I think that's how my vendors all knew i was on here as well! I was always referred by Knotties! Thankfully alot of the Knotties i knew in person, but it was still weird to be like "um, i know them from The Knot!"

Especially because I was often trying to play it off like we were friends.  There's something about a personal recommendation that makes you think they are less likely to screw you over or more likely to give you a good deal. I'd be like, "She said your work was excellent and I wanted to come in and meet with you."  I thought a little flattery would go a long way, but I wound up looking like a freak most of the time :)

My venue found out things I had said(that were all true) and almost got into it with me. She yelled at me and then realized I was about to hand her 40% in cash. She came back and was much more respectful.  There were some issues wedding day, but we dealt with those and the day went well.
