Vermont

DH has a conference, so I am going with him to Burlington. We will be there from Sunday to Wednesday. Anyone ever been? Ideas for us? Places to eat?

We love Vermont!  We went horseback riding up in the mountains, it was beautiful.  I have the brochure around someplace if you want the name.  For restaurants I'd recommend Simon Pearce -- it's in Quechee and absolutely gorgeous.  Great food, shopping, and amazing views when the sun goes down.  Super romantic. Also check out the Vermont Country Store, you could spend hours there shopping.  Lots of cute and kitschy stuff and an awesome candy area.

You MUST go to Magic Hat's brewery. Such a fun experience, and they have a great tour. The Ben and Jerry's factory is also not far from Burlington and is a definitely must-do. Friends and I travel to Killington every summer and wind up driving all over the state for day trips :) If you happen to be driving around that way, on Route 100, about halfway between Ben and Jerry's (in Waterbury) and Killington is Moss Glen Falls, which is a BEAUTIFUL waterfall right on the roadside that makes for a nice place to stop for a few minutes. This is a big photo, so I don't want to PIP: http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n153/LaRositaMonita/Vermont%202k8/IMG_1024.jpg

I second the Magic Hat Brewery! It was so much fun! They also have a cheese trail which is similar to the Finger Lakes wine trail where you drive from farm to farm and taste different cheeses. We came home with TONS of yummy cheese! You could probably just google vermont cheese trail and print out the map. We stayed right near the border of VT, Canada, and NY so most of the stuff we did was too far north but Montreal is a fun day trip that's only a couple hours from Burlington. Lots of shopping and fabulous restaurants on Catherine St especially.

If you like Americana, the Shelburne Museum is really interesting as well.
