Registering

Has anyone registered yet? I got an email saying this is something we should be doing soon, and other knotties have said 6-9 months out, but it sounds kind of early to me. Am I wrong?

Well I guess it really depends. I'd say as long as you're ready for when the invitations go out, you're good.
My registries are ready now for the bridal showers, and the one for the wedding will be ready by the time the invites go out.
You still have time, but it never hurts to be ahead either

We actually just started one of ours last night only because I am starting to get super busy through may with work and my mother is throwing me a shower in early june so we wanted to have a registry out there for people to choose from for the early shower. Otherwise we might have waited a bit. I think it just really depends on the timing of your showers (if any) or if you have already sent out save the dates and guests might be looking to purchase gifts while they are on sale etc.

we haven't started ours and i don't plan on doing that til like may. i am not having a shower until august so i just don't see the point.

I haven't started. I will probably in March? April? May? I really don't know. I'm also a procrastinator. I'm assuming since I have my wedding website on the STDs that are going to go out by the end of this week that I should get on it since there is a portion for the registry.

Registering is quite the process, it takes several trips to multiple store (picking your patterns, compairing prices). We have already registered because my family wanted registry options for Christmas gifts. I think the info needs to be on your wedding website when you send the STDs. If you don't do it by then, you NEED to do it before invites go out.

I did one of ours in Nov (3 weeks after we were engaged) because I was in the city and had time. FI wasn't with me, so I was able to go through and take my time. He does NOT like to shop, so I just did it.

I started one... I figured it would be easier choosing things over the long run so I don't feel rushed. Plus, it's fun

We have one going, and its an online one so I can check to make sure after showers that there are still plenty of options and add to it if need be

My wedding website is on my STDs that are being sent out Feb 1 but I don't plan on registering until March at the earliest. Even if my shower ends up being in June, people most likely won't start looking at the registery until May, so I don't see the point in doing it now. But like some PPs said, if you want to get it out of the way now then why not?

We don't have a wedding website nor will we and my bridal shower isn't until July and as far as I'm aware that's the only one I'm having so no rush and I'm super busy with school until April. We will register then.

We started last Monday because it was the next thing on our checklist. It was fun but more work than I would imagine. We started to go cross-eyed and everything started to look the same.
