Creative Cakes by Donna

I was originally thinking about getting my cake from Creative Cakes by Donna, but upon doing some research on the Internet, I found quite a few bad reviews. Has anyone else used her? Good or bad feedback? Thanks a million!! On a better note...booked my reception venue AND photographer this week!!!!! woooo!!!! :-)

We used Donna because she was one of the options with the wedding package we chose at our venue. I wrote a review in my "Miss" bio, but here is what I wrote: Creative Cakes by Donna - B- Baker Haddam, CT We chose Donna to make our cake because she was one of bakers we had to choose from for our wedding package at Amarante's. Donna makes wonderful cakes, but her customer service is much to be desired. I called her in April to inquire about her availability and she told me to come in the following Saturday to get samples. She also said that if I had an idea of what I wanted, I could sit and talk to someone. When FI and I went to her office a few days later for a cake tasting, we were pretty much ignored the entire time. Her office was unorganized and she was on the phone most of the time. There was no sitting and talking to someone! We had driven an hour to get there and I wanted to sit down and talk with someone about the flavors I had in mind. Her assistant gave us some samples and I told her that we had ideas in mind, but that they weren't any of the samples. Donna told us "Well, you get what you get, ya know?" So, her assistant told us to drive down the road to a park and taste them, then call them back with our choice(s). DH and I said we would try the samples and come back, but Donna insisted that we call her. I was just put off because we had traveled so far - I said "Well since we drove so far, we'll just come back and talk to you about it." But, she was adamant that calling was better. Any phone calls that I made to her were short and she was having conversations with others in the room while on the phone with me. While she is a kind woman, she is unable to give each B&G her undivided attention, even for 5 minutes. The cake turned out great though and it was delicious. I have no complaints about the final product. (End) --------- Normally, I would have just looked elsewhere for better customer service, but I was feeling defeated after losing our first venue and didn't want to deal with any more issues. The cake was to die for and looked so great. I just wish she had been more attentive to us. Her assistant was so nice though; she is the one that called us the week before our wedding to make sure everything was finalized.

I used Creative Cakes by Donna for my wedding cake and for my shower cake. I absolutely love her and the cakes were amazing. Both my MOH and BM used her for their wedding also and their cakes were also delicous and beautiful. I'm surprised that you heard anything bad about her because I have heard nothing but great reviews.

We are not using her, but I have tried her cakes.  Our venue give us an option of using her or Kim's Cottage Confections and after trying both FI, my parents, his dad, and myself were definitely sold on Kim's cakes.  To us Donna's cakes lacked flavor and were just really dense tasting.  We prefer lighter more fluffy cake, but that is just us.  GL!

We're at GHCC too in September! We ended up going with Mozzicato's. It's a bakery in Hartford and is also a part of their package. The service was great and they were to acomodate what we wanted.

I've heard the same exact thing about the customer service honestly. Her cakes are great but she's so busy that the CS is totally lacking.I'm using Kim's as well for that reason.  I haven't tasted hers yet but I've heard she's great

I got married at glastonbury hills cc on July 11 and we went with mozzicatos. The cake was to die for! I think either one will result in a great cake but the customer service for both was about the same for me. They are both really busy and you really are just a number. I origanally went with cakes etc but she ended up moving out of state and cancelling on me because of a family issue.

We got married last year and had her cake because it was one of the choices in our package where we got married. I think her customer service depends on if you are paying her directly or if she is part of a package. I think she was harder to work with and really wouldn't do what we really wanted because apparently our package was paying her less then what she would get if we were paying her. Her cake was good and we were happy with it in the end. She was just harder to work with then thought.
