Matching rings

FI bought my e-ring as a bridal set in white gold.  He's decided (for his own reasons) that he wants to wear his deceased grandfather's ring as his wedding band, which happens to be yellow gold.  I think he should keep his grandfather's ring but let me buy him a ring (one that will match mine) to wear on a daily basis.  I think he's somewhat trying to be practical and money-conscious..but come on!  A part of me feels that it won't really feel like "his" wedding band.. Am I over-reacting?

I think you're overreacting.  Your bands don't have to match.  Let him wear whatever he wants to wear.  It is his band afterall.

I agree with Navy.  It's something he has to wear every day so let him choose what he wants.  It really doesn't matter if they match.

If he wants to wear it on a daily basis you should let him. It won't matter that they match.

Agree with pp. You can always get the ring replated with white gold, but if he likes it the way it is, let him do what he wants.

I think it's nice that he wants to wear his late grandfathers wedding band. It probably has great sentimental value to him and his parents. If he wants to wear it then he should.

I also agree w/ previous posters. You should let him wear his grandfathers ring. My ring doesn't match FI's. He has a tungsten carbide ring w/ a brushed finish and mine is white gold w/ diamonds and sapphires. You don't have to have a matching band. Nobody will notice but you two anyway and even then really don't see why it matters. If he says "I do" with that band, than it is "his band".
