I got married outside in June. Just found this board and thought I'd chime in a little. Here are a few things we found relevant for our ceremony. (Ceremony was outside, reception indoors)A few thoughts/recommendations~Be aware of the fine print of your contracts. Our musicians required a tent, for example.~Even a little breeze can cause problems. My veil kept blowing in my face, for example. We also avoided a unity candle for this reason. ~If you do a sand ceremony, I have one word for you. Funnel.~Have some water available. At the end of the group shots (between ceremony and reception), DH and I were really dehydrated. So dehydrated, in fact, that we walked off on our photographer during the couple shots and as a result got very few of them. It was the worst part of the whole day...and a water bottle would've prevented it.~Suggest sunscreen to guests and such~If you are softspoken, think about a mic.~Pointy heels will sink in the grass. Ended up all muddy. Flip flops for the ceremony were the best idea ever.Thats all for now.

Good tips. I'm lucky that I didn't have issues with my veil blowing in my face, but other brides can avoid that problem by sewing small fishing weights onto the bottom of their veil. They can be painted white or ivory to blend in better.

I was just curious what your sand ceremony vase looked like....I was thinking the shape of my vase would be okay without a funnel.

Solution for heels... I love heels and stumbeled across a product that is just making it's way to the US. Google clean heels heel stoppers and the main site has a US retailer. They are cheap, I used them for my bridal shoot, where I had on 5 inch stilletos and didn't have any problems with sinkning. Because the company here is new and they are trying to get the name out they offered to mail the things to me and if I was satisfied with them I could mail them a check. So just a suggestion, omg it's the beat invention since the flat iron lol

Thats a great suggestion! Thanks, I will definitely look into the Clean Heels. I would prefer wearing the shoes I bought rather than hearing that lovely "flip flop flip flop" sound as I walk down the aisle. Its funny cause FI suggested I need something to make my heels wider when I explained the problem. He was right!

Great post, thanks! I am worried about heels, too, but I just have to wear heels because I am petite - I need the height! I'll have to look into Clean Heels and I was thinking of getting a aisle runner. Great tips regarding fluids, sunscreen, and a mic! I didn't think of them!

I can't find anywhere in the US that sells Clean Heels, but there is a fancy shoe store next to my work that sells Sole Mates - very similar and I am getting some from there. Check out www.solemates.com for locations. They told me they work great! I am checking with my bridesmaids cause they have to walk and stand in the grass for 30 min too!

I also wanted to mention that at a bridal salon it was suggested to me that I get a chapel lenght veil for an outdoor wedding. She said that what a lot of brides are able to do is have their MOH put just the tip of their shoe on the veil to help hold it down during the ceremony. Thanks for the tips and especially about the clean shoes!

That stepping on the veil thing sounds like a really good way to get your head yanked back. They usually anchor those things in there pretty good...it would hurt to have it pulled (be it by an overzealous MOH or to forget she was on it and step away).

I am also getting married outdoors and I am wearing wedding boots the heels are wider so I won't sink in the dirt. Also I have to cross a bridge and I didn't want my heel to possibly go between the boards of the bridge and make me trip. Our reception will be indoors so if I wanted to I could change into heels for that.

I bought wedges, which offer the height of a heel without the actual heel. Hopefully, they work out!!

I think having a tub of water bottles is essential for all involved that way if they need one it is there.I bought wedges...very hard to find but will rec. to my MOH about the heel stops.The weighted veils have been talked about b4...very smart.
