DJ or Band??

I am also looking for a dj or a band for next july. I would love to have a band, but I wasn't sure how much more it would cost. Any good band or dj suggestions. If i get a dj I really do not want someone who talks a lot and takes over the wedding.. i hate when they do that! Thanks!!!

Check out John Parker Bands dot com. We're having Dreamscape Band at our wedding. Not sure of the price difference, as I never priced a DJ...we knew we wanted a band. We saw Dreamscape at another wedding we were guests at - they were great. Lots of good covers that are wedding appropriate. Everyone was dancing...and they definitely didn't take over the wedding. I feel the same way about that, which is why we went with a band. Good Luck!

Personally, I prefer a DJ so that is who we used. However, it is up to you if you would rather have a band. My DJ is a good friend of mine, and he stayed away from the mic except for the intros and first dance, etc. Email me at jennybee1018 at gmail dot com for his info.

I am usign a DJ because of cost reasons. Bands start around $1,000 (more if you go through an entertainment agency). DJs can be as little as $500, but can go as high as a band.My favorite wedding band is Sputzy. They are fantastic, but pricy.Dreamscapes is good, so is City Heat. I just did an event last night with a really fantastic reggae band, and it made me wish I had a reggae themed wedding, hehe. Bands just are so much fun for events and tend to be more dynamic and engaging than a DJ. However, it is usually a big cost difference.Good Luck!

Npales, Can you please tell me the name of the Reggae band? Or do you have their contact info? I am still looking for the right band for my wedding and I think Reggae would be fun. Did they cover songs? Or just play thier own? Thank you!

Sure! It's The Freedom Band. They are fantastic and well-priced for a band. I think total they have 5 band members. They did covers. They even did a reggae version of "Our Song".

We are going with a DJ.  Bands can get expensive.  Some friends of mine were getting band and it was like $5000!  Ouch.  The wedding got called off though, so they didn't actually pay that. Anyway, we are getting DJ Andy Booth.  He seems to be pretty highly recommended.  Somewhere in the $800-900 range, can't remember exactly at the moment. My cousin had Magic Moments DJ service.  He did a fantastic job, but was a little closer to $1000.  So we went with the slightly cheaper recommendation.
