Thinking in advance, but what's your opinion?

Hey!! First, good morning!Alright so heres my delima. .  well, question.I'm thinking that I would really like to have my colors be a dark chocolate brown and light sky blue. After reading color opinions, I think these are very popular colors right now. My FI asked what colors the tux's should be. I looked around on the handy dandy web and the opinions are pretty mixed. . some say black tux, some say brown. Our day is about a year out and our colors may end up changing, but I was curious to see which route you guys would take.. black or brown? (or any other suggestions)Thanks!:0)

  • Use the colors if they mean something to you, but you're right- they're very over done.  The good thing is, you could get a lot of left over wedding stuff for cheap on the trash to treasure board.Personally, I'd do black tuxes, because I think brown would just be.... well, something you'd look back on and think of as being very dated.  Kind of like powder blue tuxes and the 70's.
  • Hah! My FI would love that, but Im not sure if we'd be brave enough for it.  I was thinking of maybe spring/summer colors but picking out colors isnt all that easy for me for some reason. . lol :)

  • I thought I would care about picking out colors, but then... I just didn't.  We did black dresses for the girls so it's something easy to wear again (who doesn't need a little black dress?), platinum and purple.  Just how it worked out.I think the whole "colors" thing is a bit ridonkulous.
  • I really wanted that color combo but FI vetoed it from the beginning! Anyhow, I'd either go with black tuxes or brown suits to avoid looking dated. Tuxedo Junction has a nice looking brown suit on their website that I suggested that FI to get his groomsmen to rent for our wedding, since the girls will be wearing chocolate brown. That being said, FI told me he refuses to wear dark brown because he'd feel like a big Cocoa Puff, so he'll be wearing a black suit (we're ditching tuxes altogether). It would probably be easier on all involved if the guys for your wedding rented standard issue black tuxes and you incorporated one of the colors in with their ties and vests.
  • I have chocolate brown as a color too and we just went to look at tuxes last week.  some people do brown, but honestly I thought they looked pretty retro- very 1970's IMO.  We ended up doing black tuxes with chocolate brown ties and vests and it actually looks very good! I was originally a skeptic!  The guy at the shop told us that this is actually pretty common now too. GL!
  • Plus, honestly with BM's in brown and the GM in brown- it would have been too much brown....
  • Our colors were brown and ivory with very little red as an accent. The BM were in brown and the GM were in brown. I didn't think it looked retro or 70s and I didn't think it was "too much brown" anymore than I think people who have girls in black/guys in black is too much. • I would go with brown and put your guys in powder blue vests. I'm not a fan of brown tuxes or of the black/brown mix, so this option strikes out both. Then you could put your girls in brown dresses with maybe a sky blue sash or do light blue flowers. I think it's a pretty color combo, but it is pretty popular. Summer gives so many awesome color options. You could do a pretty berry with green or yellow. Or berry with your sky blue, even. Brown seems a little dark for summer, but the blue would be pretty with ivory, butter yellow, or champagne; or even something darker like eggplant.

  • Fi was just in a wedding with those colors.  And they were in Brown Tuxes from Mens warehouse.    They were nice.  A pinstripe.  Now I am not a brown fan though.
  • What time of year is the wedding. How about a beige or tan suit or tux?

  • My girls are wearing brown. The guys are wearing black tuxes with black vests and ties, and FI's vest and tie are white.

  • I'd go with a black tux for the guys.  It's classic and will never look dated in your pics.
  • The color choice isn't my style at all, but if I had to choose, I would go with brown.
  • I'm a little late, but our colors are brown and pink and we decided to do black tuxes, I also felt everyone in brown was a little overwhelming and i thought the brown looked dated as well.
