Heavy Metal Groom

So my fiance is a bit hardcore. He's into heavy metal, screamo, marilyn manson type music. His favorite colors are black and red and anything dark. He's super obsessed with horror movies, fantasy type stuff, tattoo's, mohawks... well you get the picture. We're extremely different but thats why we fit together so well. I just have no idea how to incorporate his personality into the wedding while keeping it classy and not scaring away all the guests. He needs to enjoy this day too! Any ideas at all no matter how weird would be very helpful

Although, off the top of my head, you could probably incorporate temporary tattoos somehow. If you can have them made with your monogram or something, that would be cool.

You could use the instrumental versions of some of his favorite songs into either the processional music or the cocktail hour. He would recognize the melody, without the screaming/yelling music that may make your guests uncomfortable. Dark colors mixed with a bright color can look really nice too.

We do share a lot of interests. I also like some hard core music.. but I'm usually into rock. Such as Rage Against the Machine, Against Me!, The Strokes, Emarosa, Tool... stuff like that. My style is pretty much vintage meets boho I guess. I love vintage style clothes, furniture, patterns, jewelry, etc. For colors I love deep jewel tones like emerald. I think I want to incorporate a damask pattern into the overall theme and I like the idea of lots and lots of candles. Hope that helps some!

We used black and red for our colors, but I added just a touch of yellow with the flowers to soften up the look so it wasn't so dramatic. I second the use of instrumental versions of songs, or even if any bands he likes have acoustic versions of songs. We even used music from some of our favorite movies and video games for our prelude music ( a non-gory way to represent horror movies for you).

If you did want temp tats at your wedding, either airbrush or a different sort, I can give you good recs for body artists in Michigan. That could be a very neat way to incorporate some of that. Let me know at larissaesq at gmail dot com. Other than that, the color scheme and/or cake can go funky and still be wedding. And you can take the more danceable of the music and make sure it's on the DJs list. My wedding wouldn't have been very "me" if we didn't have some '80s metal happening... and we have some awesome photos of DH playing air guitar on his knees to AC/DC at the reception.

You're practically describing me and my fiance. The easiest way we found to make our differences meet is with music. I'm walking down the aisle to Apocalyptica's Nothing Else matters, and our grand entrance is Shipping up to Boston by Flogging Molly. Before the ceremony, all the music is piano covers of rock songs - check out vkgoeswild on youtube for examples. My garter has a motorcycle charm that represents his love for Harleys. He and his groomsmen are wearing Chuck Taylors as a personal touch. He has a major sweet tooth, and our candy favors reflect that. Try to think of things he likes and use it as inspiration. Like if he loves ice cream, do a Sundae buffet. Weddingwire.com is great for looking at music options, and I second offbeatbride.comIt is hard to find middle ground, because most guests don't or won't get share heavy metal tastes, so we've found that incorporating things we like to do together is easier: wine tasting, board games (his grooms cake is a Yahtzee box) riding motorcycles, spending time with our dog.If all else fails and you can't find middle ground, I gave mine free reign on a few things I knew he'd be excited about, like the food and cake flavors. I'm also having him decorate the cake table monogram letters with a tattoo-inspired design.Good luck!!
