Friday Reception and Ceremony

I think I have officially decided to do a Friday Reception.  Its just going to save us SO much money.  I feel a little guilty about our family and friends who will have to take off work, but I just can't justify it! I haven't made this announcement to our families/friends yet.  I would appreciate any comments on your experiences breaking this news, what peoples reaction was and if most people who were invited actually came! Also, what time did other Friday couples start their ceremony? What time did the reception start and end? Thanks all!

We are doing a Friday ceremony, but we haven't decided when we are going to do it. If we have a full dinner reception, we are going to have the ceremony at 5 and cocktail hour start at 6. If we do just a cocktail reception we are going to have the ceremony start at 7 and the reception start at 8. Good luck!

We did a Friday wedding at 6:30 pm in Newport Beach.  I didn't hear a single thing about it from the guests, and it does save you a lot of money.  Just send your invites out early, and the people who want to come will.

We are doing a Friday ceremony and reception. Ceremony starts at 5pm on the dot! (hopefully) No one said anything other than my annoying brother who would have said something no matter what day it was on! We do have 25% of our guests coming from out of town but most of them would have had to take at least one day off anyways to fly out and back. These days Friday weddings are really common and with all my vendors I was able to negotiate so much since it was a Friday. It will save you a ton on everything, not just the location. I saved money on almost all my vendors since it was a Friday wedding.

After much though I decided on a Sunday wedding, traffic in OC on a friday afternoon can be HELL on earth, I hate traffic! LOLAlso I didnt want to have half of my guests either stuck in traffic or due to work miss the ceremony. We'll see how it goes! good luck.

Getting ready to have my Friday wedding on August 7th at 6 pm.  The cocktail hour/reception will be at the same place and go until midnight.  Do not believe it if anyone tries to say people won't go to Friday wedding because they would have to take the day off or fight Friday travel.....people seem to LOVE Friday weddings!  I have 110 guests coming to our wedding out of 120 that were invited.  Many family members told me they were so happy to have an excuse to miss a day of work- Hilarious!  My best advice would be to have plenty of food, if people do have to work and come right after they will be hungry.  We are having lots of food at the cocktail hour and a buffet dinner with chicken and steak.  Also, people are TGIF-ing so they will want a drink.  I would suggest having the bar open if your budget permits :)Happy planning!
