Who controls the rings?

So does the best man hold on to both of the wedding bands? Or does the best man hold onto the bridal band and the maid of honor the grooms band? I have heard it done both ways...just wondering what everyone else is doing. Thanks!

Traditionally the BM holds onto both BUT you can do whatever you want. We were not having a RB because the little boy I nanny for is 11 and I thought he was too old to be a RB. Our plan was to just have the BM carry them. In the end Sam (our JR. GM) wanted to carry the rings so I bought him a ring dish to carry down the aisle instead of a pillow. Really it is whatever you want to do. Your MOH won't really have anywhere to hold his ring. Small advice - either you ro FI should be in charge of bringing the rings to the ceremony and then hand them off. I have a friend who's BM forgot the rings back at the hotel and did not realize it until it was too late. The couple had to borrow rings from friends for their ceremony. Yikes!

I agree that it's most convenient/safest for the best man to carry them as well since he will probably have a deep pocket, unlike the maid of honor.  I would suggest some type of ring box or jewelry pouch to keep the rings together in since you don't want to chance a hole in the pocket of a rented suit!  Big and bulky keeps it noticeable!

We had the BM hold my ring and the MOH hold his ring. It just worked out better for the type of ceremony we had. I don't even know how my MOH held onto it, it was all a blur. I do remember us almost forgetting them in the hotel though.

I have heard that the BM carries the bride's ring and the MOH carries the groom's ring (I heard the MOH can wear it on her thumb). It really just is up to how you want it.

I was the MOH in a wedding recently and the pastor asked me to carry the grooms ring.  I asked him where he thought I was going to put it.  In the end the BM carried them both because he had pockets and was staying closer to the church, whereas the girls were traveling around a bit before the ceremony started.
