Videographer

Hello ladies, just wondering are you guys getting a videographer? We decided against it but now I am having second thoughts that maybe I will regret not having one.

I would recommend hiring a videographer if you're having seconds thoughts. As a recent bride, I can't wait to relive my day through the video. It's different than photography in my opinion. Good luck!

I am using Precious Moments Video out of Hudson NH. I had not even considered a videographer, but one day: I was working in retail and i was at the register talking to my co-worker about how expensive they were and unnecessary for us....a customer had overheard me and came up to the counter and joined our conversation. She was about 30 y.o. and said "the one regret I have is not having a video of our wedding day, my husband died last year of cancer and I have nothing to look back on except pictures." I was bawling like a baby when she said that, for me it definitely changed my perspective.

I highly recommend getting one.  We just got our video back and have already watched it twice.  There were so many things I had missed!  It was so much fun to watch it. We used Barry Pugatch from Blue Chip Video - review in my bio.He is supposed to be getting me a snippet of the video so I can post it. http://bluechipvideoproductions.com/index.html

I'm clueless with this, do you girls mind me asking what the cost of a videographer is?

We're using Rob from Eagle Productions.  He's a full-time videographer and editor.  He's a really cool guy.  Offers a variety of packages depending on budget.Good luck!

etoom- It's a wide range of prices. You can pay as little as $300-400 for basic coverage services or 2K+ for cinematography / movie-like videos.

definitely do it! We will be. 4 girls I work with have all had wedding videos in the last couple of years. The cost is all over the place, from $1000 to $5000. Not surprisingly, the $5000. videographer was a lot better than the cheap one. But still, the girl who had the $1000 was happy she had a video!

We opted for a more cinematic videographer. We are really excited because they shoot in real film. It is definitely pricer (around 4 / 5K) than most videographers but we know that will want to relive our wedding and everything else we saw made us cringe a little. HTH :)

The videos that we like are the ones that use a lot more natural sound. There's this trend towards super slow motion with music only, and no voices. Personally, in 20 years, I'd rather hear the sound of my father's voice, than some song that was popular in 2009.

I think it is worth getting one just to show your kids someday. We are using www.curtisweddings.com and are spending $600. We went for a more budget friendly option, but I know there are huge ranges in video and photography.

yes. it's weird when they mute the voices, but the mouths are still moving. what's the point of that? from what I understand, all cameras record sound anyway, so why not use it?

Yep, we had one and I'm so glad we did. If you're interested, there's a link to our highlight video in my siggy if you want to see the kind of stuff a videographer offers.
