I know some of you prob saw this on facebook... just after MH and I settle into bed there are 2 bangs. I thought it was the cat knocking somnething over. Jesse goes to look and it was firemen sayinbg fire in the building get out. I panic, grab my purse and the dog and help mh get the cat in his carrier and run outside. MH follows with the cat. He grabbed his wallet and our passports too. They happened to be out.At first it didnt seem so bad.... all I could see was a bit of smoke but then flames shot up from the roof on the left side of the building. I live on the right. It took a few minutes for the firemen to get the hoses and it felt like eternity. I was convinced at one point it was gonna spread to our side. They did get it out quickly, it just didnt feel that quick. It was very surreal. There was a chance we werent gonna be let back in but After about 4 hours they let everyone in my side of the building back in. Our condos are perfectly fine... not even smoke filled or smelling like smoke. Only thing is our a/c isnt working right... the unit is on the roof so who knows if it was damaged. Could be worse, thats what insurance is for right? The left side of the building is destroyed. The owner of the top unit where it is the worst is on vacation. She comes back today. They notified her but can you imagine coming home to your home destroyed? She has nothing left. I feel so bad for these people. WHo knows how long they are going to be displaced. I thought maybe the bottom unit would have survived but the floor/ceiling caved in. I was heartbroken for them watching the firemen in the condo smashing the windows and just dumping their things out the windows. I cant imagine how I would feel watching all of my things just thrown out. Crappy cell phone pic but you can tell the roof is gone:
