OMG YESTERDAY... VENT(Kinda Graphic and Long)

Hey Ladies,

Yesterday I was MIA because I had a doctor appt and that's what has me so pissed off. So here's what happened.

Recently I decided to make a change in my Birth Control from the NuvaRing(which I loved FI hated) to the IUD. Now I let the Dr. talk me into it the last time I was there and made an appt to switch. Why my appt was for 9:15a and I didn't get to the back until 12:00p? So y'all know I was totally pissed!! Then they checked my BP and it was up 148/102. Now I've never had BP problems but I must admit I was stewing out in that waiting room.

So the Dr who I thought was a nurse came in and started talking about the side effects and all of that. I was like cool. Then he tells me to get undress. FIne. Now normally when I go they sit everything out they could possible need before I undress well they didnt this time. I shoulda known then this was fixing to be some BS.

I got undressed and sat on the table he comes in the room leaves the door open then leaves out to hold a conversation with a nurse in the hall way. By then I was like WTF. So I said "I am feeling really exposed right now. I don't have any bottoms on and y'all have the door wide open." The nurse was like "Oh I didn't know you was undressed. I thought you were just cold." Seriously WTF. Are you seriously that dumb.

Finally the Dr. started inserting the IUD. Why did it take him 3 tries. 3 tries y'all. Do you not do this all day long? Seriously. And once he got it in he noticed he didnt have something and the nurse had to leave out the room to go get it. Can you say contamination.UGH. All the while I have the salad tongs (I dont know what they called) in me.

After all of that I finally finish and leave out. Why did the nurse stop me because they didn't put any notes in my file. Then they wanted me to go to the ER for my BP. I was like I have to go pick of my child being that I wasn't planning to be here all day long.

Now Ladies can u believe that nonsense? I'm so surprised I didn't curse them out.
Does anyone have an IUD? How do you like it? I know I shoulda asked these questions before I let them put it in me lol.

    I do not have an IUD, however I need for you to file a complaint with your insurance company. That is unacceptable. How dare he leave you exposed. Your cool is better than mine, because I would have cursed everyone in there to HELL and Back.

    Krys, this is a HILARIOUS MESS!!! You're better than me! She thought you were cold?! BISH! Too much. That whole doctor's trip was too much for me! I would have been done with them at 9:45! Sorry to hear about this, but at least you finally got it in there. 3rd times a charm! lol. {Sorry for laughing. You can cuss me out on FB!}

    Yes I have had the mirena for 3 years now, and I totally love it...I wouldn't trade it for the world..The only issue I had was needing to get the strings cut down because they were too long...

    @MIABRIDENTAMPA Girl it was JESUS!! He saved them!!! Since my BP was already high I kept my cool, but ohhhh weeeee.

    No, just back on pills. I've been on Depo, pills, Nuvaring now back on pills. My ob/gyn advised me not to get this due to not having a child already and if for some reason I contracted an std I would be rendered sterile.

    You are definitely cooler than me. I would have flipped out, called the insurance company while I was there and then started the search for a new doctor. That is not an area that I want a certfied idiot in. I dont have one, but your experience doesnt make me wanna get one either. Frown

    Girl you better than me. I would have let tlhe wholw world know that  I'm not waiting that long and for the doctor to be that stupid. I would file a complaint asap!

    I had mirena too, but my doctor was excellent. Sorry for all the drama. I had to laugh out loud at the salad tongs!

    I'm glad y'all are as outraged as I was lol. I go back in six wks and they will hear my mouth. I don't have insurance I am using the states Women Programs. So my BC is FREE!!! FOR NOW! Once we get married straight on the FI insurance I go LOL. That way I wont have to deal with this BS.

    @Desi. That's what my Granny call them. LOL.

    OMG...that is INSANE!!!

    There has to be someone there that you can talk to and file a fomal complaint...I would NOT wait the 6 weeks...

    I don't have an IUD or take BC..I am dragging my feet on figuring which method to use.  Anywho, file a complaint with the compliance office of the facility (believe me, they will investigate).  You could also file a complaint with your state's department of health.  If there is an ethics committee at the facility, file a complaint with them also.  Not only were you placed at risk for infection, you were treated with no respect (seriously, we're women, @ the GYN office, we don't have on bottoms..the chick was stupid).  Also, the doc failed to place notes in your chart...huge problem. Also, if your BP was high, why was the procedure completed?  Your immediate medical need should have been addressed, not the IUD, your BP. File your complaint with the above departments.  Always hit them in the pockets - funding comes from state and federal levels for the services they provide.. I am sure the funders would love to hear about the poor job they are doing.  Believe me, you are prob not the only one to have this experience.

    Stay calm at your next appointment.

    Yes, you are definitely better than me! This story would have ended with "I left after not being seen within 45 minutes" if it was me. Those people are unprofessional among a long laundry list of other things! OMG! Girl... I am so sorry.

    In terms of the Mirena... I have it and I've grown to love it. It too me a few weeks to get accustomed to it, but now that I have had it for 9 months, I LOVE it! I hope you enjoy it as well.

    Let us know how the complaint process goes. That is insanity!!!!

    And yes... I LOL @ "salad tongs" too! LMAO! Sorry, girl!!!
