Bakery

I am sitting here watching cake boss and I want a custom cake like that for my 30th bday.  Anyone get their cake there for any event?  Any idea what it would cost for like 30people?Or have any recs for other bakeries that do work like that.  The closer to central jersey middlesex/somerset/mercer counties the better. This is one of those Qs I asked on the nest and didnt get a great response.  Hopefully the knotties will come thru.

Of course we come through LOLThe groom's cake I have in my bio I told them was for 25 people, fed a lot more than that, and cost $600.  It was absolutely delicious though - chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling.  Even after the HM and defrosting it it was still good.

Forgot to say I got it from Carlos Bakery and worked with Buddy directly on it.  Yes, that is his actual personality when he is talking to people too LOL.

lol, I love his work and his personality.  His family reminds me of my own italian family.  :)  I dont know if I can convince MH to spend that much on a cake... esp if we do what I want to do for the party.  Thanks for the info.

I ordered my DH grooms cake from Le Petite Gauteu in Park Ridge. They did an awesome job. This cake fed between 30-35 people and cost me $350 with delivery. It's more so a matter of what you are also looking to have them do.  That was actually the cheaper price I found because modeling Homer is a task in and of itself.

Hehe...nice hint!  I did book him before his show so I'm assuming some of his prices went up.  Every weekend there is a line outside and people taking pictures.

What a coincidence that you posted this today ... I called them about an hour ago to order a cake for FI's birthday next week. We had a large sheet cake for a friend's baby's christening and LOVED it, so I said I'd get a smaller one for his birthday this year and he picked the flavors/fillings he wanted and I called today for it. Originally I asked for the price for a cake to feed 6-8 people, and they said it'd be $25 for an 8-inch round cake. Fine. I then requested the fillings FI asked for (chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries) and they said each of those fillings would cost extra. Wound up being a little under $40 total. O.K., whatever. Then I realized they didn't ask for the cake flavor, so I said he wanted Devil's Food. She replied, "Oh! Well, the 8-inch cakes are standard vanilla, so to get Devil's Food you need to upgrade to a 9-inch and that costs extra too." Sigh. Total order was around $50. We're getting more servings in total, and as long as he's happy then I'm happy, but it was frustrating to keep hearing these additional prices tacked on with every request I had. So I imagine a 30-serving cake would be around $150, maybe? I think that's around what our friend paid for her baby's sheet cake.

Nope, just a standard small round cake with whipped cream icing and "Happy Birthday D" on it. I normally would've said "no thanks" and gone someplace cheaper ... but FI really wanted it so it's part of his bday present. They weren't jerks over the phone or anything - the lady was really nice - but I was just shocked at how she kept quoting me all these extra charges. I never ordered from them before so I'm not sure if their prices have increased with the Cake Boss show.

My Aunt got a half a sheet cake (standard decorating, nothing particularly fancy) it fed about 30-40 people and it was $100. It was pretty good but I've had better.
