Changing Name

I know this has been posted several times but when you change your name I know I have to go to the Social Security Office First.  Does it matter which office I go to?  Also, do I have to go to the DMV in the County that I live in to change my license?

I actually went to the DMV first because SS requires more ID than DMV so I got my license first to use at SS.

I completed the entire name change process a couple weeks ago so I can give you some input. I went to the SS office first too and it doesn't matter what one you go to. I live in Thornton and work in Boulder...I went to the one in Boulder with no problems. Same goes for the DMV...doesn't matter which one you go to. It's been 8 years since I got a new license and apparently now they mail it out to you. And you have to pay $22 for new license...I was bummed!

I had heard that I needed to go to the SS office first, so that's what I did.  I just went to the DMV today for my new license and they only needed a certified copy of my marriage license.  So I guess it doesn't really matter which you do first.  And no, it doesn't matter which office you go to.  My address is in Douglas County but I went to the DMV in Arapahoe County and there was no problem at all.  In fact, the SS office in Littleton (off Southpark Lane) was EMPTY when I went and I was in and out in about 5 minutes.  It was great :)
