Dress frustration - again

Ok, so I would love to know what the point is, in looking at dresses online, finding a few or 20 that you REALLY REALLY like, figuring out WHERE you can supposedly try on and purchase these dresses, ONLY to go to the stores or call them and be told they don't have them?! WHAT IS THE POINT?! I'm so frustrated.

I feel your pain :) That's why even though I really disliked them, I shopped at David's Bridal.  It made things much less stressful.

It does suck, but unfortunately it's just the way it is.  The stores pick the most popular designs, and the newest styles because they can't carry every dress by every designer.  Instead of being put down by a specific dress that you can't find anywhere, why don't you take a photo in with you and ask for something that is similar to the photo?  A lot of designers make similar styles and you could get an idea from doing that.  (i.e. the Melissa Sweet Lia and Marisa comparison.)I would also just go in and try gowns on without checking online first.  I really limited myself by doing that because I was looking for specific gowns.  So after the first time I went back just willing to try on tons of different ones that I found on the racks at the salon.

Same. I had the idea of the perfect dress from all of the bridal magazines! I bought my dress just so that I could alter the shape ahahaha! I'm sure it would have been much cheaper to pick a different design.

I have to be totally 100% honest.  I found a dress online that I totally loved (david's bridal.com), but when I went to the store, they didn't have what I thought I wanted. It really turned out to be the best thing ever.  The dress I got wasn't like anything like what I had in mind.  But, I did take the pictures of the 5 dresses I had in mind and the consultant really helped me find what I got. So, that being said, take a deep breath, relax and know that your dress will truly find you....most of the time when you least expect it.  (I know, easier said than done right!?!?!?)

I looked online for specific dresses, but I called ahead to specific bridal salons and made sure they carried the actual design or style (not just the designer) that I wanted to see and try on, so as not to waste my time. PPs have good points about not limiting yourself, but I just had very specific things I wanted to see if I liked better than the dress I kept going back to, which was the one I went with. :)
