VENT!!!!

I'm using a caterer that includes everything in her package.  DOC, limo, DJ, cake, flowers, etc. I met with the DOC and caterer on June 10th where the caterer was going to bring a DETAILED contract and collect my deposit.  She brought a general contract and I gave her my deposit, but didn't sign the general contract.  I took the liberty of including the details of the contract in the excel version she sent me, signed it, and mailed it back.  I assumed she would not deposit my check because she didn't have a signed contract, but no, she did before she got the contract.  Anyway, when we were talking, she told me she included things like "DJ Ubi" and that those things went thru the DOC.  I spoke to the DOC last week and she said she said she had done contracts with the limo, ubi, and divine delicacies.  Soo... I called Ubi b/c one of his guys was at my friend's wedding and I really liked him so I wanted him to send the same one to my wedding.  Since I assumed the DOC did the contract, I thought he could just make a notation.  WELL, Ubi has NO CONTRACT for me nor my DOC on my wedding date and is COMPLETELY BOOKED.  Yet, he said that he was super available on JUNE 10TH when I met with the caterer and she deposited my $1000 deposit.  If that were the case, I would have booked him on my own and not gone thru the caterer.  Soo I then call the limo company "Jessy's limo---who the F??? has ever heard of them" and they also don't have a contract for me or my DOC.  On top of that, the lady was like I don't even know "insert DOC dame here" who referred you to me?  I'm a bit annoyed!

I would be more than anoyed. I would be scared. Are you sure this person is legit? Is there a way to get your $$ back and book these vendors on your own?

I would also be extremely concerned. Have you spoken with the DOC- what did she say? I would not trust this person with my wedding if they have obviously lied to you about having vendor contracts and then dont.

I would be SUPER concerned that this DOC is just going to run with your money. I would try to get out of that contract ASAP and start looking for things individually.

The contract is with the caterer for everything.  The caterer then hires the DOC and the DOC takes care of everything not food related.  It was like 7pm when I spoke to Ubi so hopefully I'll get some answers from her tomorrow. If not, I'll contact the caterer and get a catering only package.

This was my face as I read your story:|Get you $1,000 back (and quick!) or drag her sorry derriere to write you a legit contract. This is beyond fishy! Had it been one vendor that hadn't been booked by your caterer, oh well, she forgot. But more than one smells like scam. Good luck, and don't be afraid to be aggressive, you have the right to demand efficiency from her, and at this point, demand a good explanation.

And the weird thing is that 2 people I know used my caterer and had no problems.  Maybe its a misunderstanding with the DOC that needs to be fixed PRONTO

OMG that's awful! I really hope you get this all figured out soon b/c you need to know what's going on. Good thing you checked with Ubi or you might not have figured anything out until much later!!! Good luck!
