That is CRAZY! I don't know any bride, or groom, that didn't do a toast with the girls/guys while getting ready.

actually my priest told us that we are not allowed to have ANY alcohol before the ceremony or he will not marry us - that goes for anyone in the bridal party too - I cant believe the reverend did that though!!! just one toast shouldnt be that big of a deal!!!

Wow that's horrible. We were told no alcohol before the ceremony; it's my understanding that you can't enter a contract if you're under the influence.

I think she should have made it completely clear that she would not perform the ceremony if you had consumed alcohol. To me, it's not the fact that she left, but that you guys didn't understand that she was very strict with that policy. As a vendor, that should be something in the contract, both to protect the bride/groom and the officiant.Glad that it still worked out for you.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I just wanted to clear up  a point that i'm getting some criticism for. The Rehearsal Coordinator told us the night of the rehearsal that we needed to eat, she didn't care what kind of diet we were on, it was important so we didn't feel faint. She also said that we need to get to bed that night so we were rested up for the big day. And lastly, she said not to drink, she said something along the lines of it's a memorable day and you don't want to be trashed and embarrass yourself and all the hard work you have done. We did not take this as an ultimatium that they wouldn't perform the ceremony. And, I know that some of you were thinking... well you say you only had one drink. I really did!! We had one toast of wine. It is against the law to get your marriage license if you have been drinking. We signed our marriage license 2 weeks prior to the wedding. We did not break any legal laws. We may have went against her own morals, but she needed to say that upfront and honest. Sorry I just felt the need to defend our story a bit more.

ewhitesel- I'm on your side! She should have been clear about the 'consequences' I feel she was a bit dramatic. But glad everything ended up working out :)
