Florist?

Hello everyone! Thank you to all who helped my fiance and I with our search for a photographer. I think we may have found our company, we are just finalizing the decision. :)Now we are searching for a florist. Again, we are looking to work on a budget, but we don't want to get something too cheap looking. We are thinking of doing something fairly creative, so a "think outside the box" florist would be very helpful. Basically we are talking about having each table represent a country and work that into the centerpieces of each table. So my question is, what sort of prices did you guys pay for both the reception and ceremony flowers? I know it will vary a lot depending on how far out you go, but I'm just trying to get a basic idea. What did you get for the price you paid? Is $500 a reasonable budget amount, or will that get us practically nothing?Thanks again!

    $500 will get your all of your bouquets, bouts, and corsages and such, but really not much else.  That also depends on how many people are in your wedding party as well.  I am using Maryam Flowers in Fairfax, and I'm paying about $600 for the wedding party/parent flowers, flowers for my cake, single stem hydrangeas for my DIY centerpieces, and one buffet centerpiece.

    We'll likely do the ceremony flowers through our church and that'll probably cost a couple hundred (as a donation to the church and they'll stay there for a week or so). We've budgeted about $2500 for flowers - but I'm REALLY hoping that's going way overboard! I luuurve flowers and want TONS. Plus we have a ridiculously large bridal party - 7 gals, 9 guys, parents, stepparents and gparents - which all adds up quickly also.

    Like the pp said, $500 is going to get you all your personal flowers, and not much else. I am paying between 750 and 850 for all personal flowers (my bouquet, 4 BM bouquets, 8 bouts, 4 corsages), and 2 large ceremony arrangements. We are not doing floral centerpieces, but I bet that would have easily doubled the price, if not more. I will say, the florist I am using had many reviews saying she was the most affordable (I didn't really compare).

    I got quotes from 3 florists and can offer you some ranges to gauge based on what you need. Your bouquet: $75-$200, varies by type of flower, and how big you want to go. Give them a ceiling, they'll tell you what you can afford. Bouts: $10-$25. Single Callus Lily/Rose = $10, orchids set off with something else = $25Corsages: $20-$40Centerpiece: This is the wild card. I'm getting small pieces based on tables that seat 6, and paying about $50 per.Other things are all individually priced. Think about your space -- decorating an arch? $200. Decorating a mantle? $12-$15 per foot for garland.If you want to keep it at $500, which I'm just about there, tell your florist and see what kind of flowers they can recommend. Also consider being conservative with who has flowers (really small bouquets for BM can look delicate, single flower bouts are elegant, not cheap!).Hope this helps!
