More to love

Ok so his show is crazy stoopid.  They all keep saying he is such a great guy and how awesome he is because he spoke up and said he likes big girls....uhhh hello he's a fatty too.  Half of the girls are already saying how he is the man of their dreams and crying about how much they love him.  So far he seems pretty douchtastic. The promise rings are ridicolus. Oh and why is it necessary to put their height and weight under the girls name.

Re: More to love

  • And that would be ridiculous.   I've had way to much wine tonight.
  • It is necessary for the same reason that it is necessary for the women of the Biggest Loser to wear sports bras without a shirt, when the dudes get to wear nice, normal, baggy tee shirts.  What that reason is, I have no idea.  But it pisses me off. This is why I stick to celebreality dating shows.  They're not afraid to show douchbags and strippers.
  • I've found my reality tv line. It's More to Love.

Ugh. Watching it and it's killing me. What a great idea, get a bunch of emotionally fragile women who have never been on a date or asked out twice and put them on a show where the central element is rejection on national tv. UGH.
    image Guess who?
  • Most of the girls had never even been on a date and then he was asking them to kiss him.   Ummm I'd assume that if they haven't been on a date before then maybe had never been kissed.    Most of them looked so uncomfortable it had me cringing.
  • I haven't decided whether or not I am going to watch this. I've been everything from a size 4 to a size 18 and I have never had trouble getting a date, with a guy I wanted to date, so I am fascinated by the whole idea/concept.

  • Glad to hear it
  • Mod is sexy, so that helps.I haven't seen it, but I was cringing when I saw the commercials for it. It looks like it's set up in a way that mocks them like circus freaks or something. Look at these zany folks--they are overweight, but still hope to find love, have you ever hard anything so crazy in your life!? And then there's heavy tuba music in the background and all kinds of weight puns. From what McLovins said, it sounds like it's exactly as degrading as I thought it would be. Honestly, I'll probably end up watching an episode or two, just for the shock value.
  • I'm with Mod.  I've never been smaller than a 10 ever, usually hover at 14-16 and have never had trouble getting BFs.  Heck, my HS BF was THE jock of the school.  These women need to realize that they are in the exact same boat as their size 2 counterpart on The Bachelor--so desperate for a man that they'll embarrass themselves on a reality show.  That's not due to weight.

  • I watch the bulk of reality tv, but I can't bring myself to get on board with this. Yeah, it's consensual and everything, but still seems exploitive. And that's just my opinion from the one commercial I saw for it last night.

  • I refuse to watch this show.  It feels like they are picking on "plus-sized" women, not celebrating them.  My friends at z100 were discussing it this morning and they all made similar points - that a person's size has very little to do with their luck in love.  It's all about attitude and confidence.  As an example, my college roommate was never a thin girl, and yet she had a steady stream of guys fawning all over her.  In contrast, one of my close friends cannot seem to get a date to save her life, and she's a size 2.   Both friends are beautiful, successful women, but only one actually exudes confidence.

  • When I saw the commercials for the show, I was annoyed that they had to make such a big to do about the women (and man) being plus sized.  If they had just had the show without the constant mention of their size, I would have been interested.  But it seems like they are simultaneously patting themselves on the back (look at us!  we have a show with "real women with curves"!  we are so much better than those other stations!) and making a sideshow of the contestants.  Hearing that they advertise the women's height and weight under their name is even worse to me.  Although I shouldn't be surprised....this is Fox we're talking about.  And I agree it's about confidence.  A girl I used to work with was probably 400-450 pounds and got more guys than anybody I've ever seen.  It's unpossible to sleep with someone in Portland without being within a couple degrees of her.

  • The weight thing is weirdly coupled with the gender thing which further bugs me because: You're never likely to see a More to Love Bachelorette with a bunch of fat guys. The implication is that its if not ok, at least better, to be a fat guy than a fat girl.  These women are so sad that they don't even think they can get a guy as fat as they are. Sad.

It's unpossible to sleep with someone in Portland without being within a couple degrees of her.I wonder if that really has anything to do with confidence or if it's just her way of looking for "love" and being accepted.  there are plenty of men willing to bang a fatty, that doesn't mean they want a relationship with them.

  • Good point, Mashed. Cali, did she date these men, or just hook up with them? Anybody can get laid.

  • A bit of both.  When I worked with her, she wasn't looking for any sort of relationship.  She moved to New York for a couple years and then decided to go to Cambridge.  She's one of those people who doesn't sit still for long in anything they do.  But I don't think that the reason she got so many guys was just because she was willing to sex 'em.

  • It's odd to me that someone would be more likely to eff than date someone they aren't physically attracted to.
