new job, slightly delayed honeymoon, new name (long!)

So, I found out yesterday that I got a new job (!!!!!!).  I'm also getting married in a week, and going to Germany in September (new job is cool with that).Timeline: wedding is 8/8 (!), new job starts 8/17 (!!), trip to Germany is 9/10 (!!!).I'm trying to figure out what to do about my last name, passport, and work documents.  I know for sure that the last name on the plane tickets needs to match my passport/ID.  Those are both currently in my maiden name.My issue is that with a new job, I'd really like to start using the new last name from the get-go (for the email, business cards, direct deposit, etc.etc.).  Do you think it's possible to change my SS# and drivers license and bank account info to the new last name, but keep the passport in my maiden name until after the trip to Germany?My mom seems to think it will be okay if I bring a duplicate copy of my birth certificate, a copy of the marriage license, my drivers license and my passport.  Thoughts? Anyone have success or failure trying to do something similar?

    Call the post office/passport office.

    I think the most important thing is that your tickets and passport match up.  I just did this for domestic travel (name was changed on all else). I can't imagine it would be much different for international travel.  I'd maybe cal the airline too...

    I'd recommend waiting to legally change your name until after the Germany trip to avoid any hassles...but that's just me.  However, at your new job, you should still be able to immediately start using your married name for your e-mail and business cards if you want.  Then you can change the name on your direct deposit after you have your name legally changed.

    The name on your ticket HAS to match your passport. So if you book it under your maiden name, and your passport is in your maiden name you're golden.

    As long as the name on your ticket and your passport are the same, it'll be fine. I'd plan to use your birth name for both and then get a new passport with your married name when you return. No need to worry about bringing your birth certifiate and marriage license with you. And none of that has anything to do with what name you use at work.
