David's Bridal bridesmaid dresses

So, I wanted to try to be economical and choose bridesmaid's dresses from David's because what I'm looking for is very simple: navy blue, satin, A-line, to-the-floor. No need to break the bank for that! But there's one little problem... I don't think David's carries navy!!! I'm kind of surprised by that. What they do carry is "marine" and "dark blue velvet" which really don't seem dark enough for what I'm going for. Ideas for bridesmaid dress lines which are in the $100-$150-$200 range? Or does anyone know if the David's "marine" is really pretty close to navy? I love Amsale and Bill Levkoff and Alfred Sung for bridesmaids, but I know they're all upwards of $200, and I'm kinda trying to cut my girls a break! TIA!

Try Bill Levkoff anyway, that's the designer I picked and we ordered through netbride.com and only 1 of the dresses cost over $150, the rest were under (before adding on $20 for extra length if needed). You could also try Alfred Angelo, those are pretty reasonable. Good luck!

I'm looking for navy dresses too. I hope to make it to David's this weekend specifically to check out what this "marine" color looks like in person. If I go, I'll definitely let you know what they look like. It's hard to tell online. Sorry I don't have many other suggestions. I know I've seen Navy dresses on J.Crew, but don't know if they have floor length plus the prices on those vary depending on style and material. Maybe Alfred Angelo?

I went to DB recently to try on BM dresses for my FSIL's wedding. We both loved the "marine" color because it was dark, but not too dark. Here is a pic of me trying on a dress in "marine". The top of the dress is satin and bottom is chiffon. Hopefully that will give you a good idea of the color!http://tinyurl.com/me2t4e

I know how you feel...I dreamed of royal blue...ordered cobalt because I was told it was royal blue...it was purple. I have seen DB Marine, I don't think it's what you want, to me it's like navy blue with teal undertones?

Hm, Sarah Kate- you are the Baltimore Knottie goddess! Always saving everyone's day! I don't know, I guess I'll have to go see it in person. I was kinda thinking maybe a little darker. Who knows though. Also... what colors for the groomsmen do you put with navy bridesmaid dresses? Mom and I are trying to figure this out. I know it's okay to do black and navy combo together in a tux, but it's not my favorite. I was thinking maybe black tuxes with pink bow tie & cumberbun? FI and my dad like the bow tie and cumberbun look better than the vest. Mom likes black pants with a white dinner jacket... the only problem with that is FI is joining the Army, and as long as everything goes through as planned he'll be wearing his dress blues (as will his dad, a Vietnam Vet). I feel like the GMs in black pants/white dinner jacket will upstage my groom! Thoughts? We are having a pretty formal wedding, if that helps at all. Thanks so much girls!

nothing will upstage the groom...everyone loves a man in uniform... I personally hate guys in pink, what about silver/grey/platinum...or a champagne very neutral color...

Is pink your accent color, is that what color the girls' flowers will be? If so, for a formal look, my suggestion would be black tuxes with black bow ties/cummerbunds, and pink boutonnieres to coordinate to the girls' flowers. They don't have to wear any navy if you don't like the look!

YES, I forgot to mention pink is my accent color! I am an absolute pink-a-holic. But wanted to tone it down some, especially for a formal wedding, hence choosing navy blue for BMs. I would be okay with the GMs wearing black bow ties/cumberbuns (That would still look okay next to the navy blue dresses? I'm bad at this!) BMs/MOHs will be carrying pink roses, hot pink starfighter lillies, and ivory cymbidium orchids with a hint of blush... my florist sort of wants to throw in some light green hydrangeas too to give it some "pop". The GMs will have "double" cymbidium orchid bouts, so there will be some pink in the bouts.

I like black tuxes better than the black pants/white jacket combo. I agree that pink cumberbund/vest might be too much and that black or a more neutral color would look nice. We're doing either khaki suits for the guys or blue blazers and khaki pants for the groomsmen and then a khaki suit for FI, but our wedding is very casual.

I was actually at David's yesterday. I am also in search of a NAVY Blue and on the website the Marine looks like a dark blue green to me, but in person it is NAVY! I was so happy!

I chose my MOH's Amsale gown from Bluefly and it was under $150 on sale. You might want tp check their website and see what they have. They often run good sales and have $20 off $100 coupons. Good luck!

Oh, that's great news! I hope I like it too. Marine comes in a lot of cute styles and I think I will let my girls just pick whichever one they like best.

Yes, that is great news about the Marine being navy! And also great news on other brands being economical, as well! Thanks for the input, everyone :)
