Eco Wedding on the Cheap

What are some cost effective but eco-friendly solutions you guys have found for your wedding?Maybe not technically eco-friendly, but we plan on having our wedding in a museum.  It's much cheaper than banquet halls and the money goes towards keeping the museum operating :)

Re: Eco Wedding on the Cheap

  • We are getting married at a ranch in Colorado that prides itself on being eco-friendly. A majority of their decor is from local "pine beetle kill" (wood that has been harvested due to a bug that's killing a lot of the local trees.) They also use organic & local foods as much as possible in their restaurants. Oh, we are also having our ceremony, cocktail hour & reception all at the ranch (cuts down on guests driving from one site to another). We cut out flowers as much as possible because A. they are SUPER expensive & B. they are not "green" to be flying flowers in from all over the place just to be used 1 time for a wedding... so we'll be using almost no floral in our centerpieces (see my bio under DIY projects).
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!
  • oh, and I forgot one of the most important things...the views at our venue are so pretty that we were able to cut our decorating back to almost nothing! (just some extra candles & that's about it!)

  • hi again! Our venue is a local state park, free and beautiful, no decorations needed. Our favors are locally produced from a family owned and operated sugar maple house/farm. We saved on shipping by picking it up ourselves. No flowers, all floral are being subbed with origami.
  • I am using recycled seeded paper for all the programs and menu.  You can get them on save-on-crafts.  Also, I am using lollipop stick as "escort card".
