Kabbalat Panim? (reform)

Our rabbi suggested having the kabbalat panim/tish ceremonies.  I like the idea, but we are reform, and the wedding guests are about 75% non-Jewish.I was thinking of having both ceremonies in one room, where FI and I would sit together, and he would read/discuss his Torah portion as part of his tish. Are there any reform brides who have/are thinking about these ceremonies? What do you think? Thanks in advance.

Was it just as suggestion or a "suggestion?"  If you'd rather not, then you can just skip it and have the bedeken instead and then prepare for the start of the ceremony. Otherwise, I think a joint venture sounds fun if you like the idea of doing both.  And don't worry about the most of the guests not being Jewish - half the fun is learning and engaging in a cultural event and they will appreciate taking part in your day.  While we aren't Reform, we too will have a good portion non-Jews and non-observant Jews (over 90%) and we aren't keeping to the letter of the law.  FI may mingle with the cocktail crowd but I prefer not really seeing or socializing with anyone, except family/coordinators, until after the ceremony so we aren't doing the kabbalat panim/tish. But I think it sounds cool and if your rabbi is okay with the idea, go for it.  Godo luck.

We're not reform, but my husband and I didn't want a tisch. (It's not a Sephardic tradition.) He still wanted to be able to see people before the ceremony though. So, we had a joint kabbalat panim. He was in one area and I was in another area. Then they danced him over to me for the bedeken.I was going to make a sign explaining it but ended up not. I wish I had because people figured it out, but it would have been a bit smoother if we had told people to come over to us. I got visitors, but C was ignored for a lot of it.
