How many cupcakes?

I apologize if this question has been answered before; if it has, I couldn't find it.For those brides who've done cupcakes instead of cake, how many did you order? I assume that some people will not have one, but other people might have more than one. Should I just order one for each guest and hope for the best?

I'm thinking 1 for every guest, but you can never have too many cupcakes.  It's probably wise to order extras in case any of them get messed up on the way to the venue.

We've got about 100 on our invite list and hoping 80 will show. But we'll probably still get 100 cupcakes. You can never have too many cupcakes, IMO.

We had 100 guests and 115 cupcakes. We had 12 or so left over...my family was trying to get their hot little hands on them at lunch the next day when my parents brought some leftovers to the hotel!!!

A baker told me to consider about 1.5 per guest, but with that you'll most definitely have leftovers.

At least one per guest.  Ask your caterer to pass them out for you, instead of allowing everyone to grab one themselves.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!
