Tattoo Cover

I have a tattoo on my shoulder that I would really like to cover for my wedding. I'm having a hard time finding a good product. Especially since I will need someone else to basically apply it bc of the angle. That would be my mom or my sister, neither of which live in town to practice. Are there any fool proof products to use? Or is it common for salon's to offer this sort of service......I didn't think to ask mine.

Re: Tattoo Cover

  • I know David's Bridal sells a kit in stores. I also think I have read that Kat Von D has a kit as well.
    Good luck!
  • I wore a very low cut dress to a formal charity ball a couple of years ago and didn't want mine to show so I used demablend from Ulta.  It's basically like a really thick cover up so it shouldn't be too hard for someone else to do for you.  You could go into an Ulta near you and try it out and see if you think it will work.  I used it the next year on a girlfriend of mine for the same event and it worked great on her, too.

  • I don't have any tats, but after seeing this video:  http://randymatheson.com/dermablend-demonstrates-tattoo-cover-up-product-with-zombie-boy-transformation/

    I'd be looking for dermablend.

  • Hi,
First of all, I am a professional makeup artist and have experience in covering up tattoos.
Cover FX has some great cream foundations that work well for covering up tattoos.

If you have access to an airbrush machine, I would suggest using that as the coverage is phenomenal. Use a few drops of a light primer, mixed with a few drops of white as a base. When the tattoo is covered and you're left with a ligher patch of skin, simply go over it with the foundation that best matches your skin tone and it'll be like it was never there.

If you are having trouble covering it due to the fact that it's a dark or bright tatt, it is best to color correct before applying the foundation. You can use color blocking to make it disappear and then top it off with concealer. If your tattoo is black, use an orange or red colored base. If your tattoo is blue, use orange. If it's green, use red. If it's orange, use a blue base. If it's red, use a green base. Just find the complimentary color (opposite color on a color wheel) and use that as a base to minimize the color. Then, use a flesh tone concealer and powder to set.

    I hope that helps!
