Thank you cards for early wedding gifts

We are starting to receive wedding gifts forour Oct 3rd wedding.  Are we suppose to send thank you cards upon arrival of the gifts or after the wedding has taken place.  Id prefer to do it as they come but wasnt sure if we are really suppsoed to wait till after our wedding to open the gifts. Help?

Yes. You should open the gift to make sure it wasn't damaged in shipping, write and send the thank you note immediately and then set aside the gift and don't use it until after the wedding.

You're welcome! It really does put a big dent in the list getting them out the door as soon as the gift arrives. And guests certainly appreciate the prompt note.

Yep, and proper etiquette says that you should send out thank-you cards for gifts you receive before the wedding no later than two weeks after you receive them.
