Hi Ladies,2 questions tonight:I am looking for unity sand ceremony stuff. From searching online it seems like theres only 2 different designs I can find, neither of which I am thrilled about. Any ideas?We are making a donation to a charity instead of having favors at the reception. Has anyone else done that and if so how did you do it? I can't decide between making something for each person, putting a sign at the escort card table, putting one sign on each dinner table or on the bar. Thanks for your help!

    I dont know anything about the first question BUT if you are making a donation check with the charity in which you are donating, sometimes they will provide you with something that says something along the lines of "in lieu of traditional donations a donation has been made in the name of blah blah blah to the blah blah blah fund" Make sense?

    and I meant in lieu of traditional FAVORS not donations lol

    Hey Amanda - thanks for replying.. I know exactaly what your talking about - like from the American Cancer Society... but the chairty we are donating to is small and they dont have anything like that. But thanks for the help... maybe it will help another bride on here :)

    Hmm in that case I'm not sure I would make a sign for each person... that would way too much. Unless your really crafty and enjoy that stuff (I know I DON'T) ... I would just put the signs on the escort table, each table and the bar... that should cover it.

    We are doing the sand ceremony too and I was just looking up some info on it earlier in the week... (date twins on the same track, that must be a good sign! haha!)  I found one couple who bought a really nice picture frame that held 3 separate vertical pictures side by side.  They poured the sand into the middle picture slot during the sand ceremony, and then were going to use the 2 outside pictures spots for wedding photos.  I thought that was a really neat way of displaying it later!  My only suggestion is to try it out before the ceremony!!  Haha!  The last thing you would want is the frame to not be tight enough and the sand goes everywhere!  I am going to be trying it out soon though, so when I do I'll make sure I post a picture in my bio!I'm not sure on the donation favors though, sorry!!  I've seen people give the rubber bracelets before (like the livestrong bracelets) but with the name of their charity on it.  I think you can order them for pretty cheap online at like Oriental Trading or something.  But its still an added cost... Sorry I wasn't much help on this one!!

    We're doing charity favors.  If you do it through the IDoFoundation (www.idofoundation.org) you can add the charity you want to support (and it might already be on their list, but you can add it very easily) and then you can buy printed business cards that have the "in lieu of favors" information.   We had to add the Children's Hospital that we want to support, but it only took a couple days to be added.  We decided we didn't want to pay what they charged for cards, so we just went to the Paper Source and got tent cards--we're going to print out the same thing for each table.  It cost maybe $25 for the cards and my FSIL is going to print them.  Another option is to get the printed cards through Vista Print.  They are having a good deal on Business Cards--I think you could get as many as you need for a good price.  All that being said, I think one sign on the bar or the dinner table is just fine, too!

    Also--with the I Do Foundation, you can give your guests the opportunity to donate to the charity instead of buying you things off your registry.  This was something we wanted to do, because we've been living together for two years and don't really need a ton of new stuff.

    My daughter went to Michaels craft store, bought two different colors of sand and a pretty clear container with lid to put them in. Also may need to purchase a clear funnel if the rim of your jar is small.

    We did a donation in lieu of favors and printed up one larger card for each table.  I made my own place cards, so just did a much bigger version of the same card for the donation card.  We talked about the group we donated too and also how we had spent some time volunteering for them.  We got many great comments on how people liked that idea - so I'm pretty sure everyone noticed them and remembered!  GL...I'm sure I can find pictures somewhere if you need more ideas!!!
