Photo Slide Show

Is anyone creating one of these? About how many pictures are you showing? I am trying to get an idea for how much is too much. Thanks!

Re: Photo Slide Show

  • My dad's wife made one for us. I have no idea how many photos there were but it was about 15 minutes long. We played it while people were eating cake so our guests had something to do if they got bored.
  • Our photographers have offered to do one for us after they do our pictures and set it up so that people can see it during the reception.
  • I've seen it done at one wedding ... photos of the bride played for about one minute (snippet of a Frank Sinatra song), then photos of the groom for about a minute (snippet of the New York Mets' fight song), then photos of the couple for about 90 seconds or so (snippet of an oldies love song). They played it after the dinner plates were cleared, before the cake cutting & dessert buffet. I'd shoot for 5 minutes or under if you're going to stop the party and have everyone watch (maybe do it during the salad or dessert course, so people can eat while they watch). If you're going to run it in a loop in a corner, where people can watch at their leisure throughout the night, make it as long as you want.

  • i've created slideshows for anniversary's and weddings. 75 photos or less creates about an 8 minute slideshow and you could put up to about 4 songs on there. 75-100 photos (more typical) is about 8-10 minutes long and about 6 songs. (keep in mind it's not the FULL song that ever plays). then 100-150 photos is about 10-13 minutes long and you could throw in up to 8 songs.
  • hey thanks, sox! That really helps! "o)
  • I just did one for our reception.  I ended up putting about 70 pictures of each of us seperately and then 70 together.  We're not going to make people stop and watch it though.  We'll probably just play it during dinner so if people want to watch they can.
  • My favorite one I saw was played while guests were seating and waiting for the ceremony to start. The music played over the video and the video looped...people were crying before the wedding even started! haha. It gave you something to look at other than the program and provided you with "awe" moments as well. Entertaining.
  • I very much agree with the fact that if you are going to have the reception stop and have everyone watch this, keep it under 5 minutes.  While it is very cute and fun to watch, the guests don't need to see every step of your life.I was just at a wedding that had the slideshow on loop during the reception and that was great!  We could watch it while we were waiting for dinner.  I really suggest this!
