Cliff's notes: bride wants to be the only one with hair down: requiring BM's to get updos whether they want them or not. Told it was bossy, bridezilla and out of line. A DD.mbc: this has been DD-ville for days! It is annoying to reply and then have your replies disappear.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
oh my gosh. this has happened to me. and what was funny about it was the bride never explicitly said "updos for everyone but me," yet all the bridesmaids ended up with updos at the insistance of the hair stylists, while the bride wore her hair down.it didn't bother me until my SIL pointed out...then there was the "heeeeey! i got duped!" moment afterwards.pretty much when people start laying "requirements" on other people they should understand that no one likes to be told what to do. you'll never get anyone on these message boards being like, "YEAH! you showed that bridesmaid who's boss! way to make all her mundane decisions for her! now tell her what to eat and you'll have perfectly demoralized her!"
Why why why why why do people think this matters? Does she really think she'll be standing next to her BMs all day/night and therefore there is a point of comparison? Do they really think that people won't be able to tell her from the BMs? Really?

fo' sho'. I have yet to ever go to a wedding and say to the nearest person, "and who is the bride again? i can't remember...she just blends in with everyone else..."
Cliff's notes: bride wants to be the only one with hair down: requiring BM's to get updos whether they want them or not.Hahahahahahaha. I'm so sorry I missed this.
I aim to please, Licia! LOL Did anyone in that wedding give the hairdressers a really hard time? 'Cause I seriously wonder what they'd have done with someone like me. I'm stubborn and opinionated. No matter how much they tried to insist that I should have an up-do, I'd refuse. Seriously, I'd just sit there and say, "No. I don't wear my hair like that," and not relent. I'm more likely, honestly, to have gotten out of the chair and just done my own hair. I did once see a wedding where the bride and all the bridesmaids had the EXACT SAME UP-DO. Not kidding, there were 7 or 8 of them, including the bride. It looked awful. Very Stepford. I was LAUGHING like crazy. Poor things.
what happened was all the bridesmaids showed up to have their hair done and everyone was like "nah we don't really know what we want done with our hair...just make it pretty."And so these stylists gave all the girls with long hair the same ponytail updo (that one of them really hated but was just too nice to say anything) and the girls with medium length hair (me and my SIL) ended up with some curly...helmet...thing...that it took me 2 days to wash out completely.so to answer your question, no one gave them a hard time, but we d e f i n i t e l y should have.
