Ring

Did you pick your engagement ring out yourself or did he surprise you? I loooove my ring!! I'm just not sure how/or which kind of band would work with it. It has a side stone on either side and dont' think it would sit flush with the band. It is similar to the Tiffany Legacy engagement ring: http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?GroupSKU=GRP10013#f+0/0/0/0/0/0

Re: Ring

• By the way, I wouldn't want to change the design of the ring, but I think one of the side stones would need to be moved or removed in order for a band to fit. Or I could get a band custom-made with a "notch" in it. The only drawback is if I decide not to wear my engagement ring (ie. travel, etc), the band couldn't be worn on its own.Any of you ladies run into similar situations?
• I designed my own ring. Sadly I did not think about a wedding band when I designed it and a no wedding band (custom or otherwise) would look right. I didn't actually want a wedding band, but DH insisted. So I just wear the band and e-ring on different hand.

• We went ring shopping together.
• My ering has stones on the band like that, and any band would go. I'm getting a band with princess cut diamonds on it, since that's the cut of the diamonds on my ring.PIB of everything, I think under Attire/Bling.

• H wanted my input before he bought my ring so we went together to pick it out.My e-ring wouldn't have gone well with a band, but I never wanted to wear them together anyway. I wear my band every day and only wear my e-ring for special occaisions.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

• what about this? you could wear this without the engagement ring...
• My ring is damn near a replica of that! When I went in to pick out the wedding band with FI, I was under the impression that I really wanted a band that would sit flush. I actually liked it the best when it didn't. Picture a plain band that matches the sides of the e ring. I do plan on getting in put together though so I would not have the two separate rings. Go into the store and they will be able to show you lots of options.

• Lyn, similar situation here. FI and I looked at rings, he took a picture of one I liked to his jeweler who made it. We didn't think about how the band would fit. I may do what you're doing with the right and left hands. Although I would prefer both on my left! Cubs, that's great! Where did you find that picture? I'm sure our jeweler would make something like that to fit and it doesn't look *too* bad without the e-ring I guess... Thanks everyone for the help, info, advice! Keep em coming!
• roselyn - my DH is funny.. He likes that I'm 'marked' on both hands as guys are sometimes too stupid to know what is the 'correct' taken hand. whatever. I actually like my e-ring better, so I wear it on left hand. It's a split-shank so it looks like 2 bands anyway. My wedding band is a diamond band that looks good on it's own. I sometimes switch them around, or wear a different ring on my right hand. DH does not care as long as I wear one of them on my left hand.

• We looked at stuff together, but he bought it on his own. When we were looking, I said "I like traditional, but I don't like, you know, traditional. I don't want anything super expensive, but I don't personally like the look of small solitaires. I don't want anything big and gaudy, but I don't want anything small and plain. I like solitaires, but I don't like any of these. I like three stone rings, but three stone rings are boring." I changed my mind about what I liked every single time we passed a store. He did awesome.

• It's from Helzberg.com They are called Contour bands, and have a varying degree of a "dip" in the middle. Good luck!
• Ha, I did the same thing temerityjane. I was constantly changing what I liked or wanted. First it was emerald cut with split shank and small diamonds, then It was round cut three-stone ring. I ended up getting a princess cut solitare that I can't stop staring at.
• i REALLY like your ring termerity.

• You might want to look into mico pave...the diamonds won't be as "chunky" as a channel set.
• ndzenowski - I was never one of those types who spent all of childhood dreaming of the diamond... but I find myself staring at mine all the time, too. Shiny.MissIntentional - Thank you! I think it's a little unusual while still being a traditional diamond ring, and it adheres to my frenetic love of sales and bargains by being made up of multiple small diamonds instead of one big one. Haven't put much thought into wedding bands. We're both going for simple, cheap stainless steel bands. They probably won't fit together.

• Are you sure it won't sit flush? My ring has stones on the side too, but my wedding band sits flush. Of course, they are designed to be together.i would just try a few bands and see what you think. A contour band might be a good option. I wear my wedding band a lot without the e-ring, so the contour would have looked silly. We went shopping together. I picked out about 4 settings I really liked and let him surprise me. He picked my favorite!

I mentioned what I wanted in a ring once like 3 years ago, and he ended up picking the exact one I wanted, only a little bigger! He said he liked how modest I was when I said what I wanted, so he had no problem going bigger lol.
• It was pretty much a joint thing. We went together to look at rings. I picked out the setting, which also includes my wedding band, and he went back later to pick out the center stone/pay for it. So I was sort of surprised by the center stone, and I got just what I was hoping for. I love it.It's a round brilliant center with 3 round brilliants on either side, set in white gold with some engraving on the side. Kind of hard to explain. :-) Wedding band matches, but has 8 rounds w/ the engraving.

• I posted pics of my ring. Kind of hard to see but there is that side stone which justs out enough to leave considerable space between the band and e-ring without changing the design, or getting a band with a notch in it.
• My FI picked out the ring completly on his own, he asked me for some ideas on what kind of rings i liked, but he told me after he proposed he didn't like any of those so he went with his gut. I also told him no yellow gold or princess cut diamond. I figured he'd go with white gold. Boy did he surprise me when my ring was platinum, solitaire wiht a round cut diamond. He did his research, he's always telling me about the 4C's of my diamond, which I had no idea of before. But he did good. I love it and its perfect for me.
