My interview yesterday must have gone really well, because they emailed me this morning and want me to come for an in-person interview next week! Unfortunately, due to budget restraints, they cannot pay my travel expenses. Anyone know how to find the cheapest flights? I'll be going to Nashville, if that helps.

Hotwire.com is a really good site! You could go to cheaptickets.com too! I found one on cheaptickets on northwest airlines for 304 dollars. EESSHH! Thats high! I'm looking for ya!

I can leave any time on Wednesday, but my return flight on Thursday can't be earlier than 3:30. The cheapest I've found so far is $354 before taxes. I might have to just accept it, though.

Just an FYI, you can deduct the cost of your travel and lodging (and 50% of the cost of your meals) off your taxes for 2009.

Thanks everyone, my dad offered to let me use his miles, so that's a huge relief for me.Lindsay - is that because it's work related? I'll keep that in mind.

Bananna - yes, it's because it's related to you finding employment. In fact, if you wanted to, you could actually deduct the mileage that you use to go on interviews locally if you wanted to.

Can't you include clothing into the tax thing as well?

only if it's considered a "uniform".....for example, if you teach excercise classes, you can deduct the cost of your tennis shoes and workout clothes but they don't consider slacks, blouses, etc. a uniform for tax purposes so you can't deduct traditional work clothes.

They had something about this on Channel 4 yesterday. The big thing was that you can't be changing career fields according to the people they were interviewing on Fox. You have to be staying in the same career field.
