Gifts - shower or wedding?

FMIL added some friends to the guest lift after invites were already sent out and guest list finalized. (that's another story).My bridal shower happened before these ladies were ever added as wedding guests. Two of the women that RSVP'd Yes to the wedding also just sent us really large and $$ gifts off our registry. Are these considered shower gifts or wedding gifts that got sent early b/c they would be awkward to bring to the wedding? I'm just not sure whether to thank them for the shower gift or wedding gift?Thanks!

    Wow, I don't know. I would think it's wedding but not sure. Can you just do the thank you and not specify wedding or shower?

    Skiwic...I will probably do that...just a general thank you. Its just weird b/c they obviously were not invited to my shower, but the wedding is still over a month away. Since I just got the gifts maybe I will wait to send their thank you's until after the wedding just in case they were meant as wedding gifts.

    Just send a general "thank you for the generous gift". There is no rhyme or reason to the gift giving process. Lots of people want to send a gift sooner rather than later so they can secure to "good gifts". My guess is wedding gift. Not shower. But play it safe with te thank you.

    I would do a general thank you, and send it now, not after the wedding.  They probably want to know that you received it, and it will be less notes to write after the wedding.

    I agree with PP, definately do a general thank you.  I would also write it sooner rather than later as the less you have to do after the wedding the better.
