Ma'Alaea Grill / Cafe O'Lei Catering - reviews?

I'm now on the hunt for a restaurant with a small banquet room where we can have our reception.  I like the Seawatch, but FI doesn't love their menu options, so I wanted to do some more research of other places that might be less spendy.  Maui Revealed recommends Ma'Alaea Grill, which is operated by the same people who run Cafe O'Lei in Kihei.  So I'm thinking about reserving the Papaya Rm at the Grill, and having a catered buffet there for defintiely under 30 ppl (probably around 25).Has anyone eaten at Cafe O'Lei or the Ma'Alaea Grill?  What'd you think?  What's the Papaya Room at the Grill like?  Does anyone have any experience with Cafe O'Lei Catering, and if so, how did you like them?If you'd rather email me, I can be reached at carrieoz_76 at yahoo dot com.  Thanks!Carrie

There was a while when it seemed like everyone on the board was using Cafe O'Lei. I think Pugrolls said it best when she said that the food was good, but didn't live up to all the hype.

I've eaten at Cafe O'Lei and I thought the food was really good, but I don't have experience with their catering services for a larger group. I have heard things along the lines of what Kaesha said above.

We've eaten at Cafe O'Lei and we thought the food was delicious. The actual location isn't that great looking from the outside (upstairs in a strip mall) but the food is great and the inside is very nice. We tell everyone who is going to Maui to eat there. I imagine their catering is just as good :)

Cafe O'Lei just catered my wedding on 3/28/11.  We went for a plated dinner and the food was EXCELLENT. Highly recommended.
