Reception Hall Help :(

Hi Ladies,I know I've said this before, but I just can't find something that I can picture myself walking into...It's driving me crazy and I need help my fiancee says he just wants me to be happy...(he's awesome) Am I just being to picky? I want somewhere in between Medford MA and Haverhill MA... Our church is in Medford..I want the dance floor in the middle and the DJ across from the head table and I want it to be pretty! I like The Haverhill Country Club, The Woburn Country Club, Diburro's and The Georgtown Club but that seems really expensive....I need to make a decision soon...my date is Oct. 9th 2010...I'm sorry for venting I just want to start my planning :(BTW I was already booked at The Casa di Fior in Wilmington on 93 but they are going out of business and they sent us all of our money back!Thank you in advance for any advice!

When I went reception site shopping it was all about getting big enough room for a price we could afford. We needed at least 250, and didn't want to spend under $50 per plate. My only other requirement was that it had real windows, I didn't like the "boxed in" hotel look. I looked at the Haverhill Country Club and in my opinion it was a little bland, and too small for our needs. Diburro's is a very nice reception site and I have been to many weddings there, however, we didn't consider it for our venue bc everyone in the fam uses it and we wanted to be different. My Dad actually found TGC when we was looking in one of my bridal mag's (weird I know haha) and him and my mother went to look at it while FI and I were in school, they loved it so we went to look at it, and really liked it, and it suit our needs. I don't know what your budget is but, I think that Haverhill and Georgetown are around fairly the same prices. And usually each place has cheaper and more expensive menu items obviously. The only thing you might need to worry about are the minimums for a Saturday evening wedding. Sometimes they can be high. I wish I could offer up more places to look but I mainly looked in southern NH, and the MA ones were(Haverhill CC, Bradford CC, TGC, and DoubleTree hotel in Lowell). I have also heard good things about the Andover Country Club. Hope this helps :)

We booked the only place we looked at, so I'm not much help, but Knottie Gabs has kept a list of some of the recently used NH venues here: http://tinyurl.com/nemmk8 A lot of them have links to their webpages for your review. Good luck!

There is a place called Smolak Farms in North Andover.  I haven't been there so I don't know about the pricing, but just from their website it looks like you would have the reception under a white tent in the pine tree grove.  Since you are getting married in October the foliage would be really nice.  Also you may want to look at the Tewskbury Country Club.  I don't know if that's too far out of your way.  The ballroom is very pretty there.  If you want to drive a little further north, just over the border is the Atkinson Country Club which is really nice and is priced very reasonably.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!

A new golf club just opened in Methuen (Merrimack Valley Golf Club) it only holds 150 tho not sure how big your wedding is but you may want to check it out.
