Wedding Programs & Placecards - One Per Family or Person?

Hi Everyone,Another question for you.  Is it more appropriate to do one wedding program per person or per family.  And how about the placecards?Wouldn't it be easier if it was just one program per family, so everyone wouldn't have to be fiddling with something during the ceremony? Thanks for your help!

We did one program per person and we had lots leftover.  I'm not sure if there is a magic number.  I might have gone with about 2/3 of what I made.We didn't have formal seating, but I think one per family will suffice.  No reason to make more work for you and waste supplies since I doubt anyone cares if they have an individual assignment as long as they're all sitting together.

I think 2/3rd of your guests might work for programs, although, the girls who handed out my programs said pretty much everyone took them, so IDK. You'll have extras, and that's just part of it :) No clue on placecards!

I am doing one per couple on programs (and that's probably still too many).  If you do escort cards (where you assign tables but not seats--which is what I'm doing), you can do one per couple.  If you do assigned seats and use placecards, then you have to do one for each person.

We did a one per couple type thing.  However, we did have enough for everyone to have their own if they wanted.  We didn't do placecards for either the ceremony or the reception.  The only seating we had at the ceremony was for family and then some special friends (like our readers).  Hope this helps.

We did one program per person (We did fans and placed them on each ceremony chair) and one placecard per couple/family
