Any ideas for a church?

My wedding is going to be on January 2, 2010, and I'm having a hard time finding a church. My fiance and I are part of a church, but we do not have a building. So far I have called about 10 places, and they all only rent to members. We would like somewhere that will let our pastor officiate.Our reception is at the Christiana fire hall. If you know of anywhere in the Newark area please let me know! Thanks!

    Which church are you part of, and what denomination?  My suggestion would be to first talk to your pastor, and see if he is friends with other pastors in the area that might let him come in.  The other thing is to check out other churches that are the same denomination as yours.Unfortunately, most pastors won't let someone else just come in and officiate in their church.  Most of the time, that's because the church itself has guidelines on marriage, including counseling, and letting another person officiate can mess those guidelines up.  If none of that works, worse comes to worse, start checking churches that will let your pastor co-officiate.  Also, check out chapels- I know that some places, like Willow Valley in Lancaster, PA, has its own chapel that you can bring your own minister into.

    My church accepts non-members (Catholic) but they will charge you more. It's Saint Margaret of Scotland located on Rt 40 just before the MD line. It is maybe 15 min from the fire hall.

    Try Red Lion United Methodist Church.  We also ran into a problems finding a church but for different reasons and the pastor there was very kind and welcomed us with open arms.  It's about 10 mins from Christiana Fire Hall.  We also had our reception there so if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me - amlinton1615 at comcast dot net.
