I don't understand how people undercut... don't you have to provide a table seating chart? I overpaid for 2 people and my venue just gave me that money back. I could never think to risk not having the right number of plates, seats, etc....?
I have to give them my number this week, seating charts don't have to be done until the friday before. I will not be refunded for any no shows and my venue encouraged me to do this, so I don't get suck paying 100pp for the no shows.
You were very lucky Allie. Our venue was not so accommodating and we ate the amount for 6 guests due to hospitalization. Nicole, if they told you to cut the number, do it if they can still feed them day of.
Yes, that's why I don't understand how people don't undercut even by 2 or 3. Even if you have a very strict venue, what are they going to do if you claim a few more showed up & whip out your checkbook the day of?
I agree with what Allie is saying, I even had to eat the cost of 7 no shows, and if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have undercut, just in case. But, aqua is in a different situation, where her venue suggested it. I would personally think that with the size guest list that cutting by 6-8 people is a bit high. I would probably go with 135 or 136. But, that is really your judgement call.
