lightinthebox.com??

Has anyone ever ordered or know anyone who has ordered off of lightinthebox.com?I am thinking of ordering a dress I like and seeing how it comes out. It is a chinese website. The dress is $150 so, I;m thinking it would be worth the risk. I plan on using Olga for alterations.

From my personal experience going to Hoi An and having stuff custom tailored, it can be really hit or miss.  But like you said, it's only $150 so to me it would be worth the risk, especially since you have access to the legendary Olga ;)

Yeah, not being able to see the quality of work before ordering would be my main beef.  I remember checking out different tailors and their stuff on display might look nice but then you would see them doing a fitting on something they just made and it would be horrible.  When I had my suit made I had to go back for three fittings to get it right but the quality itself was good.  But I got some linen capris made in another store and I could tell they would fall apart after a couple washings.  Good thing they were only $5 lol.One thing a lot of people do when they visit these tailors in person is they will order something like a business shirt or sundress made first so they can see the quality of the stitching etc.  If they're satisfied then they'll move on to bigger ticket items like suits and bridal gowns.  If you have the time it might be worth ordering something else first that's cheap for a trial run.

I'm fine with the knock off part. What do we do with these dresses anyway?? Put them in a box in the attic and then they eventually turn yellow. There is a cute reception dress that is $50 or $60. I was thinking of ordering that first. Most of the designer dresses I like are fairly simple so, it might work out. I will let you ladies know what happens.

Wendy, There is a similar website that we have order MLB baseball jerseys from.  No one I know has ever had a problem with them other than they seem to run out of smaller sizes very quickly.  For a $50 dress, it's not a bad gamble.

I am doing the same thing. I found this dress I LOVE on the site but I am SO worried it will be bad. I have seen mixed reviews from people. The one thing I would suggest is size it BIG. Give yourself a few extra inches. I ordered a cocktail dress to test it out. I should be getting it at the end of the month. I gave them my measurements so we will see. I will let you know. Please post and let us know if you order.
