Day of Coordinator

Hey LadiesI asked the LA knotties but also wanted to ask my OC knotties this question as well.  I have been getting a lot of advice to hire a day of coordinator.  My wedding isn't until June of 2010 - I feel FI and I still have a lot of time to organize and plan ourselves.  A DOC is really not in our budget.  Do you think I can get one for $500 to $1000??  Any suggestions/recommendations?Thanks

Use someone who is new and is building their business.  Or hire an acquaintace or a friend of a friend who has planned some great parties.

I got mine for $500. I hired her in Feb of this year and has been a life saver. Interview a few..not just one or two you want to make sure your personalities match. Also what I was looking for was experience. I didnt want just anyone to manage my party. My DOC was my sister DOC for her wedding and she was AMAZING and $500 you cannot beat it. Check my bio for her contact info.

I highly recommend using a DOC.  Our DOC was Amanda Auer of In the Now Weddings, and she was fantastic.  Once we hired her, even though she was just our DOC, I could send her all kinds of questions and she would answer them for me.  When I met with her, and later with her and the assistant we had for our wedding, I felt so comfortable with them.  On the wedding day there will be a lot going on, and a lot of people will have questions, problems, etc.  We probably could have used a family member to keep an eye on things so we wouldn't be constantly bombarded, but we wanted those people to be our guests.  Amanda and her assistant handled everything fantastically.  As far as the price, my fiance was skeptical too, but once we hired her, she was able to refer us to vendors who were much less expensive than what we had found and who would work out better deals with us because we were recommended through Amanda.  I think we covered her fee through the savings we got using the recommended vendors.Amanda's website is www.inthenowweddings.com I don't know what her current prices are, but when we hired her, she was in your range.

my husband and i were on a tight budget, but decided to splurge on a day of coordinator for piece of mind!  my family is huge, and they were really helpful with making sure all the vendors/services/wedding party were in place throughout the day!  my husband was skeptical too at first, but afterwards he said it was worth it because he didn't have to worry about anything except for enjoying the day!  if you're still looking, i would recommend krystal and roxy from bel amour events.  check out their reviews on wedding wire!  or you can contact them directly at kborges.belamourevents@gmail.com.
