Detailed List

Does anyone have a detailed list of everything they want to have done by the time of your wedding that you wouldn't mind sharing? I had one and deleted it :(

Also, we are having a ring bearer now and his parents will be getting his suit/tux. Is there anything additional that we will need to supply for him besides the ring bearer pillow of ocurse? I have no clue about this!

Re: Detailed List

  • Use The Knot's checklist.  It's surprisingly good.
  • I've used the knot checklist, like PP said.
  • Is it? I looked it over but wasn't sure how inclusive it was or how well it worked. I normally just stick to the boards mostly. Thanks!
  • I've only been using TK's list. It hasn't led me astray so far.

Stolen from another thread I posted in...my to-do list is something like this

    Things to get/order:

    • Buy stamps
    • Buy bouts for FI and dads
    • Figure out FI and groomsmen formalwear
    • Get my wedding band sized
    • Buy gifts for Groomsmen, Bridesmaids, parents, and each other
    • Dress alterations
    • Meet with caterer, decide table/chair, etc preferences, finalize menu, figure out the services and set-up of hall
    • Get pics of grandparents for memorial
    • Contact tent rental place
    • Buy wedding insurance and get copies of caterer and photographers insurance certificates for venue
    • Pay final payment and security deposit to venue
    • Pay church and organist fees
    • Rent car for the week of the wedding
    Order bulk flowers for centerpieces

    Things to do:

    • Stuff, address, and send invites
      • Practice DIY hair and makeup
      • Trial run for DIY cake
      • Make escort cards
    • Send readings to readers
    • Make rehearsal dinner reservations
    • Meet with band
    • Plan ipod playlist
    • Get invisible line for church decorations and hall lanterns

There's totally stuff I'm forgetting, I'm sure! I use TK's checklist but for an all-inclusive list, I have to actually write my own, lol.

And re: ringbearer- beyond something to carry, the only other thing you might get is a thank you present (my nephew is getting a yo-yo with his name engraved on it because he's into yo-yos.)

  • I'm using the knot's checklist, but also am using googled lists and my Mom and Aunts expertise in wedding planning to help me make sure I don't forget anything.  I don't really have an in depth list to share though, sorry.

  • I consult TK's checklist, but I have a written one that I use more often, especially because I'm doing a lot of DIY. Also because I'm weird and prefer paper to-do lists to ones on my computer.
  • I find the knot checklist surprisingly thorough. I plan to use it until about the 8 wk mark, then make my own detailed checklist for whats left.

  • ive also been using TK's list.  I do have separate lists for my DIY projects.  Once we get down to the 2 month mark, I'll start going over the day start to finish and making sure we've got everything covered (centerpieces, guestbooks, ushers, readers, etc).  About 1 month beforehand I'll go through all the 'reminders' (aka, make sure i bring the veil to the salon that morning, etc)
  • I've mostly used the TK one. What I did do 2 weeks ago, was go through all the items and change the dates to ones that work better for my timing. I only had 5 months, not 12-18!

I also have a hard cover book that stays in my hand bag all the time. I have a running list of all the things I still need to buy, and also different pages for questions for various vendors as I think about them. That way when I have a meeting I've written all the things I want to double check down, and I don't forget. I had my sister/MOH look through it and make notes so that she also knows what's on the list.

I've found that between the two I'm not too frazzled - although I have my moments!
