The worst thing that could happen to me is pimples on the day.. I am freaking out.. Have any of you brides facing this situation? Any cures or remedies you know of..

Birth Control, I've maybe had like a dozen pimples since I went on BC about 7 years ago. Yasmin is a good one - they actually advertise that it clears your skin.

RELAX! that is part of the problem! have you ever had  a facial before? i would go and get one if not just for the facial its self but for the relaxation! (dont go too close to the day you may have some reaction if you havent had one) one thing that i LOVE is the neutrogena wave with exfoliating about 2 times a week my skin is sooo soft!

I actually am on BC!I am on Ortho Tri cyclen lo actually..your making me want to switch to Yasmin?!Do you think that will make a difference JenFridrichamberlynn2286 I might take ur advice and go in for a facial!!I think I deserve it..any recommendation for a salon in LA?!

I was on Ortho also to begin with and it made me gain weight. When I went on yasmin I lost the weight I had gained on ortho and I TOTALLY noticed a difference in my skin. I always had bad skin as a teenager and now when I go in to get my makeup done or to get facials I always get compliments on how good my skin is. I think it's worth a shot and I think your doctor can help you too if let him/her know what your concerns are and if switching BC would help. GL!

hi there, well i use to work for proactive and one thing i have learned is that it is all about the oils in your face, since you are getting closer to the day of your wedding you are having stress which makes your poors clog, basically anything will colg your poors and make you break out, i know that saying try and be calm is pointless because you cant be calm before your wedding but a good thing to do is keep your face moisterized and also to exfoliate your skin once to two times a week and depending on how much makeup you wear if you can dont wear it whenever possible it lets your face breath and helps the poors. i hope this helps.

BC did it for me too. i am on Ortho Tricyclen (NOT lo). my doctor made me switch to yaz once, and it was the worse experience ever for me!! it made me itch from the inside. and i started to get little pimples...everywhere!!! i would say don't do it...cuz it takes time for your body to adjust. you don't want to do it so close to the wedding if you don't know how you'll react. it's not the same for everybody. i hated yaz. back on ortho tricyclen, and skin is back to being clear. i did not gain weight. but i do work out.

is yaz and yasmin the same thing? if it isn't, i can't remember which one gave me the bad reaction...

try the oil cleansers from shu uemura. i love them. got it b/c one of the editors from In Style used it, and she reported her skin got better. it's all i used before the wedding...a lil pricey, but it's great. and for scars...i'm a picker =P, i use scar zone, the acne version. you should be able to find at a rite aid. that did wonders for me. good luck!

I just wanted to second Reesey on Yasmin.  While I haven't been on it, a few of my friends have, and they all had horrible reactions (gaining weight, splotchy skin, etc).  The thing is, BC is really particular to each person--it all depends on your specific hormone levels, etc.  And, it can take up to 3 months to really see how your body will react.  So, IMHO, I would actually not suggest changing BC so close to your wedding.  I'd go w/ the other suggestions for face treatments.

I've also been ortho tri cyclen ( NOT LO) for years and it did wonders for my skin. I've heard Lo won't do the trick for acne. I've tried switching a couple times to other types of BC and always have bad reactions. I also have had HORRIBLE skin since I was 12. I've tried EVERYTHING! I'm not kidding! Don't use Proactiv. I and several people I know have had the worst experiences with it. I ended up with huge cystic acne on my cheeks that didn't go away until months of using prescription treatments. Don't use any kind of creamy cleanser but absolutely do do do moisturize (even if you think you're so oily you don't need to). What I love: I'm absolutely addicted to Murad's acne line and I also use DDF benzoyl peroxide exfoliating cleanser about twice a week and it does wonders for getting rid of peoples and clearing off dead skin so that they don't come back. I also switched to Bare Escentuals for foundation and that made a HUGE improvement. If you have serious pimples, like cystic, talk to your doctor about Benzaclin. It's expensive and you need a Rx but it works wonders and quickly. but be aware that anything with benzoyl peroxide will bleach everything though, even after you dry your face. I've bleached my bed linens, towels, all sorts of things. so be careful with it.

freaking_zombie, yes. those are the ones i'm talking about. i was using the high performance series...the yellow one...then my makeup artist suggested i try the cherry blossom b/c it's for oily skin, which is what i have. but i really liked the yellow one too. if you do try it...you apply it to your face before washing...so while it's dry, and it will feel kinda gross...cuz it feels like you're rubbing oil on your face, but after you wash it off, it feels really refreshing, and you don't really need moisturizer b/c it doesn't strip your skin of its essential oils. i love it!good luck!

hey reesey, which specific scar zone product do you use? I've always wondered if that stuff really works. I searched scar zone on drugstore.com and this is what i got http://www.drugstore.com/search/search_results.asp?N=0&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&Ntk=All&srchtree=1&Ntt=scar+zone

I agree with pp- DDF benzoyl peroxide exfoliating wash is really good.  You can get it at Sephora.

As a teenager I had super clear skin and then in my early twenties I had a period of adult acne.  Nothing super pronounced just annoying. This may I switched my beauty routine and tried the Philosophy jump start kit that I got at Target.  I followed it faithfully for about a week and quickly saw major improvement both in the texture of my skin and in a drastic reduction in the amount of pimples and blemishes I had.First off avoid touching your face!  You may be fiddling around with it more simply because you are more self-conscious of the way you look.  That carries oils from your hands onto your face and may upset the balance.Watch what you are eating too. Certain foods increase the likelihood of inflammation in your body, ergo bigger blotchier pimples if you get them. Drink plenty of water too.If I were you, I would avoid going on birth control just to keep your face clear.  If it is a skin problem then you need to talk to a dermatologist before you talk to a regular doctor. You can probably go to the local heath foods store and purchase mineral clay.  It comes in several colors.  Green, Red, and White. I prefer the green.  Take a tablespoon, mix it up with water, or fruit juice, or milk or a combination of the above and make a paste.  Smear it on your face after you have cleaned it and let it dry.  Then wash it off. The mineral clay will draw out the impurities in your skin, but it will also have a drying effect so be prepared to moisturize afterwards.

try making an appt. with a dermatologist. Since I was a teen I've had numerous dermatologist visits because of acne. The only thing that worked for me was erythromycin after trying numerous medications. I went back on it just in case since my wedding is coming up too. As far as over the counter goes, I noticed most products contain either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Which one works depends on your skin. Some people swear by salicylic acid, but I'm a benzoyl peroxide girl Reesey thanks for the scar rec. I am SUCH a pimple PICKER!!!

Oh and ditto the stress. Stress can really do a number on your skin causing your glands to secrete more oil so breathe and relax!!

julybm & 23sb, you're welcome! follow the instructions, i.e. massage that ish! old scars take longer, new scars take like a week to fade.
