NWR: Questions about Atlantic City

Hi, NJ Knotties!

I live up in Boston, but had some questions about Atlantic City.  Next week my FI's family and I will be flying into Atlantic City for mini day trip.  We'll only have 3-4 hours to spend at a casino and are looking for some recommendations.

(1) What's the best way to get to the casinos from the airport?  We will have 7 people, so I think we'd need to take 2 cabs each way unless there are cab companies that do large parties...any idea?  If we rent a van, is parking in AC feisible?  How much is it to park at the casinos?  Are there any good shuttles/buses/etc that will go directly to/from the airport?  Where we have such a short amount of time I think taking a cab would be the fastest, but 4 cabs at $30 apiece adds up.

(2) What casino/casinos should we go to?  My FI likes to play craps.  His dad likes to play blackjack, and I think everyone likes the slots.  SUGGESTIONS???

I've never been, but think it's going to be a super fun mini-vacay.  Any advice is welcome!!

I am not sure about the best transportation, I always drive from where I live :)

However, the Borgata is the upsscale, more expensive casino.  If you want to spend a lot per bet at the tables, and have a fancier atmosphere, that's the place to go.

My fiance loves Resorts for Blackjack because he can find $10 tables and wins money there.

Not sure about the transportation either.

As pp said Borgata is the nicest. FI and I go to AC a lot and our favorites are Borgata, Harrah's, Caesars, and the Tropicana. All of them have great restaurants and a very nice atmosphere. Tables range from $15-$100 on average. If you are looking for cheaper tables I would check out the Taj, Bally's or Showboat.

    Have a great trip!

Parking at any casino shouldn't run you more than $10.  Whatever hotel you play at, if you sign up for a players card, parking is usually even cheaper.

there are a few limo companies that will do vans, cause we've used them to take us the airport.  i believe one was avalon limo (http://www.avalonlimo.org) or just search for the airport services in the eht area.  the ac airport is actually in a town called Egg Harbor Township, and it's located at exit 9 on the ac expressway (the casinos are exit 1).

as far as casinos go, my friends and i LOVE the quarter at tropicana, but the borgata is a really nice, upscale casino for our area.  anywhere you go, you will get a good experience.

parking, no more than $10.  Caesar's, Trop are usually $5, but like mentioned before, get a player's card and that will make the cost of parking cheaper!

Hey. I work in AC and have a little insight. As far as transporation from the airport, you are better off getting Rapid Rover or some other transportation van. It is about a 20 minute ride.  In the city there are jitneys (shuttles) that go from casino to casino. $2.00 per person to ride the jitney. If you park in a garage, save the receipt. They act as a transfer 1 time. Meaning, you can park and pay at the first casino, and when you park at the second, you just give them the receipt and don't have to pay again.

As far as what casino to go to, the above posts are accurate as to which casino is good for what. Have fun!

I knew you girls would be the ones to ask :)  Thanks for all of the tips!  I'll get some quotes on shuttles/vans vs. renting a car or taking a cab.

I read online that it was a $27 flat fee cab ride from the airport to the casinos, can anyone confirm that?

It sounds like there are a ton of options for casinos, and that we can always split up and take the jitney to meet up.

    Thank you all so much!!!!
