I dont think they are a must have.  It is what you want and what you can afford.

I'm not making programs but I know of a lot of people who are. Some have used vistaprint dot com. I have used them for my STDs, photo sharing cards and welcome notes for OOT guests. If you sign up, they often send you promos for free stuff and that's the time to order. I usually end up spending less than $10 for shipping. It's great, I don't have to buy paper and worry about printing it... much easier and they do a great job!

how long is your ceremony? how big is your bridal party? are you having any readings? Depending on the answer, it may be nice to have a program. If you feel like you'll have explain something in your ceremony or feel like honoring someone (deceased loved ones), or you just feel like having one. Do it. But if you don't really feel like you need it, then don't. You definitely don't have to have one.

Its only going to be 15 minutes.. 10 people .. no readings.. ok because people are telling me i should have one.. but i mean if there isnt much to explain why waste money..

We have a very large bridal party but our ceremony is maybe 15 mins... and I think it will be pretty self-explanatory. I would skip it if I were you. Why spend the extra money, put it towards something else. :)

We didn't have programs.  We only had a 15 minute ceremony, one short reading and practically no bridal party (just a BM and MOH), though, so that was fine for us.
