about the topic

just so you all know we have the boardreader.com and you can check back post of two months old and you can see how pushy was with her vendors, two of them especially! I dont get it when someone asks for an affordable venue or photographer and then she came and recommended hers which we all know are very expensive http://talk.theknot.com/boards/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=61046527&forumid=67#61048840

Not to be devils advocate because I don't know her financial situation, but sometimes what is expensive to one... might not be so expensive to another?

In that particular post, she also mentioned another venue to help out the knottie, and did not ask anyone to mention her name.

I agree Michi mentioned her vendors a lot, but in this and many other examples she gave other suggestions and the comment about the Colonnade well if that's a "push" then maybe Red Fish Grill is giving her some sort of compensation as well.

Whoa...Ok, now I'm getting a little concerned.  We booked our reception at the Red Fish Grill - not because of any recs from Michi but because we liked it and we had heard a lot of good recs from people in our family and friends who live in FL.  I certainly was not aware of Red Fish giving out any special bevefits or discounts from being "pushed."  Did she have her RD there??

Ok, I jsut re-read that post - I don't think it appeared that she was "pushing" the Red Fish.  I agree with pp that what is affordable to some is expensive to others.

I was trying to be sarcastic in making a point. In that example she just mentioned her venue. I do not consider it a push.

agreed. That was the worst example of anyone pushing a vendor ever. And this happens to be one of the posts where she actually offers up options other than her own so unfortunately that doesn't hold any weight. That said, there were definitely some posts out there where someone would ask for a water view in palm beach and they'd get only one rec from her and it would be for the WC.Anyhoo...

Yeah, unfortunately that wasn't a good example. Don't worry, some of us have those examples and it will come out when she gets back.

And the name mentioning happened via email. She would email the girls after she sees they are interested and tell them there.

Nope. I think mainly it's just the shock of it all. Everyone's bubble was popped.

I really haven't been on in a while. But I must say I looked into and booked The Rotunda @ the Westin Colonnade because it was a rec that Michi once made. I did my research took it into consideration and made appts for several other venues. Having seen the Rotunda FI & I completely fell in love with it so we booked it on the spot. Never did I mention who referred me and I'm more than sure those who booked with Westin Colonnade weren't even asked for a referral, I wasn't.IMO, I happen to think Michi has been gracious enough to help us all out with her knowledge in planning a wedding as some of us need guidance along the way. She's been able to answer a few question for me both on here and via email.:)
