Reception Location

Has anyone had any experience with the Clubhouse on Baltimore? We checked there and the Sawyer Room. We loved the owners of the Sawyer Room, but it isn't big enough. The Clubhouse on Baltimore is very nice, but I haven't heard much about it. I appreciate any input!

I have all their information in PDF documents from last Nov. when I was looking for a reception site. I'm not sure if their prices are still the same, but it will give you a general idea. I can send you the info... email me at lindyd_03 at yahoo dot com.

We actually met with the salesperson last week and got all of the info. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with working with them. Why did you decide not to go with the venue?

I went to two wedding at CHOB (a week apart) about two years ago.  Both were beautiful!  Looked into the venue for our wedding but it wasn't available.  A florist I spoke with mentioned CHOB is very popular.  GL

I went to check out CoB when I was home in May. Although the place was beautiful and there were many great spaces to see, the lady made me feel like I was a bother to her. She rushed us around from room to room and seemed extremely distracted. Perhaps it was just one of those days, but it certainly turned me off of the venue.

We cancelled our appointment with them after having great meetings with The Sawyer Room and Feasts of Fancy. We also read multiple reviews that said the management is hard to work with and we figured there was no reason to chance working with a place that might be hard to work with when the other two seemed so nice and professional.

My brother got married at Clubhouse last October.  The place is neat, but when they were changing to room over from the ceremony to the reception they shoved everyone into a tiny room with only 1 bartender for 200+ people.  They also started kicking people out 30 minutes before the reception was supposed to end.  Several guests got confused on where to be.  There were 3 other weddings and people from their wedding ended up at ours and vice versa.  There were no signs delegating whos wedding was on what floor.  When I was looking for a reception site I didn't even think of Clubhouse.  I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We looked at the Clubhouse on Baltimore a few months ago and were not impressed.  There were stains on some of the floors and it smelled of smoke and alcohol.  It may look nice once it's fixed up, but it jusn't wasn't for us.  I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks so much for the input! We felt rushed around too. The Tudor Room is beautiful, but I definitely don't want any disorganization that day. Does anyone have recommendations for a venue that holds 300 guests?

We're using Terrace on the Green.  It will hold up to 330, but it's pretty far south.  Don't know if you are just looking downtown, but it's a pretty modern space and on a golf course.

Yeah, I've heard the Terrace on the Green is supposed to be nice.  Why won't The Sawyer Room work??  They can hold 300...

We're looking at downtown spaces. I might check out Terrace on the Green anyway though. Thanks! The Sawyer Room actually maxes out at 299. With a dance floor, they move some of the tables after dinner. Plus, our date isn't available! I would definitely recommend it to anyone though. The owners really make you feel important and are very detailed-oriented.

I was interested in Clubhouse and called twice- never got a call back.  (I had this experience with several venues, but that's another story).  I have heard great things about the place, but I never got far enough to find out anything for myself.  What about the new Terrace on Grand?  I don't know anything about it but it sounds interesting, and I know it's downtown...

Out of all the places we inquired about, Terrace on Grand was the only one that did not get back in touch with us. I'm sure it just slipped through the cracks, but it was enough to knock them off the list. If they can't do the simple thing like reply to every new customer inquiry then I'm concerned about the major details of the wedding day.

Have you looked at Club 1000? Not sure of their max capacity, but they have 2 floors so you can do your ceremony on one and reception on the other.
